Sunday Scribblings

It’s one of those lazy, but not lazy Sundays. I’ve already been up since six, working on some revisions. I need to get going on creating promos for RT — fun ones, I hope. For those of you attending RT, make sure to get to the goody table so you can be one of the contestants in my on location RT contests. The grand prize winner will get a COMPLETE collection of all of THE CALLING Novels and all of my CHICAS novels, plus MORE THAN A MISSION.

What else is up with me? Here goes, but tell me what’s up with you on a typical Sunday?

First big thing! Sammie took a gold in that FCCLA competition. Her team was up against 7 other NJ schools and her high school had not taken a gold in this event in a long time. Since they took the gold, they get to go to the National Conference in California. She’s way excited.

As for me, I’m going to get some promo things ready for Sammie to work on during the week (she’s my personal assistant — LOL! 🙂 ) Plus I have to make some ARCs (Advanced Reading Copies) to get to some reviewers.

All this promo stuff kind of goes with the territory of being published, but more on that at another time.

What else am I doing? Well, I watch TV while I write and work, so this morning I’m catching a ROCKY marathon. Perfect since I justed picked up the latest movie — ROCKY BALBOA. Can’t wait to watch.

I don’t know about you, but we loved the first and second ROCKY movies. Not to mention that in my day, we all thought Sylvester Stallone was way sexy. For a guy his age, he’s not so bad right now.

That’s about it — look for tomorrow’s Guilty Pleasure Monday!

  1. Smart idea! I’ve got boxes of tapes I have to capture one of these days, if the dvd burner would cooperate, all would be will. I hear ya on Buffy though, I think I still have most of the first few seasons I taped on VHS somewhere 🙂

  2. A very wise man. If you can’t be stupid with your friends, or your lover, who needs them?

Good luck with your walking. I hear Scotland is lovely and I’ve always wanted to go there.

  3. Congrats to Sammy and her proud Assistee!

Sundays – Jammies till noon, worked on website and read all morning then off for a leisurely lunch at an outdoor cafe -THANK GOD SPRING IS FINALLY HERE -. Groceries, bank and back to reading. I made brownies for the man who feeds my cat while I’m away and walked a mile in my own shoes. (Practice for Scotland in June).

Went nuts at the card display in the store yesterday. I hate it when I keep finding the perfect card for the same person. I think I bought 10 cards yesterday. My favorite? “It’s one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson – A very wise man
    Have a good week!

  4. That is too weird — I used to use it to capture all the Buffy episodes since it was taking them forever to release the DVDs. This way I could watch the episodes over and over again (I’ve been known to wreck tapes because of how often I watch them!)

  5. Oh too weird! I’ve got the pinnacle converter which is pretty much a dazzle with a different name on it.

  6. LOL! Costco is usually my Costco day as well. I also update the main web page and add any new things that are going on. I used to capture shows to my laptop — I used a dazzle. Is that how you’re doing it?

  7. Congrats Sammie!

Sundays are usually the day I go to costco, clean up the files on the laptop – I usually capture the shows I want to watch during the week on it, so Sunday is watch and delete day.

  8. It definitely makes sense to submit to someone who is interested in that genre. I’ve noticed that Harper has a very active Teen Lit site and you may want to check that out to get sense of what they are interested in. They also seem to run contests as well, so that might be a good way to get noticed.

Good luck with the shoe shopping!

  9. Hey C.,
    Congrats to Sammie!

    As for my typical sunday,
I was researching the firm that my friend just received a job at and they dont even ACCEPT the young adult genre that I am targeting. I talked to her and thought it might be best not to go through with it because I dont want to come off as a person who didnt do her homework.

I came across another contest that is accepting young adult submissions. I think I might just post something on my blog or myspace with all of these contests. I have to definately research them first like lois said to see if I end up giving up the rights or not to my work.

    Anyway,
Enjoy your sunday! Off for some shoe shopping i go. 🙂
