Guilty Pleasures Monday – Jan Michael Vincent

Jan Michael VincentThis one’s for you Gretchen!

You probably know him better as Strongfellow Hawke from Airwolf. That was such a great show! I remember falling in love with him when I was a kid when JMV was in a Disney movie titled The World’s Greatest Athlete. For some reason, I remember JMV running against a bunch of athletes from Villanova, my alma mater.

JMV was a total hottie in that All American kind of way. He definitely was the kind of tortured hero I love in Airwolf. JMV even had a female sidekick in this action-packed show. Unfortunately, it didn’t last very long on the air. Bummer.

Poster from AirwolfI know I’ve had the surfer dude/All American hero in a number of books. Besides Peter Daly in TEMPTATION CALLS, there’s David Harris, Diana’s partner in THE CALLING series. Of course, there’s also Riley Evans from the CHICAS books. Oops, can’t forget Aidan Spaulding from MORE THAN A MISSION, one of my favorite books!

Yep, this kind of hero definitely appeals to me and I think to a lot of people.

Many of you have been writing and asking about David Harris in particular. I had hoped to do his story and romance with Maggie Gonzalez as a possible spin off to THE CALLING series, but right now that’s up in the air. I’ll keep you posted though.

Don’t forget to pop in tomorrow for my Celebration of Sisters contest. Remember you’ll need to know the name of the “Special Sister” from THE CALLING to post as an answer to tomorrow’s blog! You can click here for a clue.

  1. Jan was perfect for this role . He’s a great actor, still nowadays !
The brother of Stringfellow was named Saint John, and was portrayed by Christopher Connelly .
    Thanx for this article .

  2. You went way back with this one! I use to have a big crush on Jan-Michael. Thank you for this one.

  3. Just now catching up with your blog, JMV was nice, but then there’s Adrian Paul and
that very, very nice David Boreanas, who was Angel, the vampire!

    Pat Cochran

  4. LOL! It was Stringfellow. Don’t know how many times I read this and still did the typo. The brother did have a weird name, although I can’t remember it. Anyway, ENJOY!!

  5. Ahhh be still my heart. That’s got to be from Big Wednesday…Caridad you’re my hero! One little thing….er..I believe it was Stringfellow, though indeed he was a Strongfellow. Though now that I think about it, it seems that a lot of the plotlines in the shows had him being shot, bonked on the noodle or other convenient injuries. What’s sexier than a really ripped wounded hero? What was the brother’s name? It was another kind of odd name. I think it was the premise for the show. Hawk stole Airwolf so he could look for his brother.

You know I could go on and on…Sherman Set the Way Back Machine!

Ok, I know, my obsession is showing…Though if you think this is bad don’t even get me started on Adrian Paul – sheesh! 😉
