You are so right, Gretchen! Experience is what we draw from as writers. How can you do that if you hole up somewhere? FYI — most writers that I know write books without contracts. It’s how everyone starts, so I don’t know why this reporter thought otherwise.

Balance, isn’t that what life is all about? I can’t imagine that anyone’s imagination is broad enough to allow them to write interesting compelling stories (That I WANT to read) without having a broad range of experiences to pull from…Bravo the trailer park writers who write to make themselves happy!

Exactly. The amazing thing is that some of these people had million dollar contracts and were complaining!!! It’s like everything else in life — you need to have balance. You need to love what you’re doing because no amount of money can give you happiness (of course, it also wouldn’t hurt either – LOL)
