Thoughtful Thursday – A Cure for Recession Depression

It’s not easy watching the news lately. In fact, it’s downright depressing. For the first time in my life, I feel like I have no control and that’s not a good thing. For that reason, I can understand the anger of many who might be feeling the same way.

But luckily, this morning’s news has something good to read! The AFP reports that researchers in Stockholm have found that ” Heart attack survivors who eat chocolate two or more times per week cut their risk of dying from heart disease about threefold compared to those who never touch the stuff.”

In addition, the news article mentions that there was a connection between cocoa and improved blood flow and lowered blood pressure!

Good news! You can click here for more of the news article or cut and paste this link:

Also – please drop by tomorrow to visit with my friend Raul Ramos y Sanchez to find out more about his new book, AMERICA LIBRE.

  1. I have fibromyalgia and found another article about a women who had it so bad she could not get out of bed. She did lots of research and to make a long story short, dark chocolate, with a cocoa of 70% or more is very good for you. This article also mentioned the lowering of blood pressure, helping with people with depression, and the aches and pains associated with Fibromyalgia. The higher the percentage the more bitter it gets, but at the 70% range it is not to bad. So it was like I told my husband before he went to the doctor for a regular checkup of his high blood pressure, what do you have to loose. He ate some that morning before we left and his reading in office were the lowest he has ever gotten in the office (he also suffers from white coat symdom) so his pressure is always up when in the office or hospital.
I feel it has helped dealing with my pains and depression. But as with all things good, don’t over do.

  2. I am in shock!!!! Something soooo good is good for us? When was the last time that happened? Not once in recent memory that I can recall. Now I can eat chocolate without the guilt or hiding it as a guilty pleasure. Thanks for sharing this with us as I hadn’t seen the news or a paper yet. Have a great day and enjoy a chocolate bar.
