Guilty Pleasures Monday – Blast from the Past Burt Reynolds

Even as a young woman I always thought Burt Reynolds was hot. There was something totally Bad Boy about him and he had the kind of dark looks and athletic build that I like. Then he confirmed his Bad Boy status by posing in the nude for Cosmo.

Mind you, that pose was the stuff that said Women’s Lib had arrived. For years men had salivated over Playboy centerfolds and now it was Our Turn – We Are Women Hear Us Roar!

So, today’s Guilty Pleasure Monday is that piece of American History and Burt in all his hirsute glory.

Burt Reynolds from Cosmo - Used Under Fair Use Provisions

On a more serious note, every Monday we have our Guilty Pleasures, some guiltier than others. Some might say that objectifying men in this fashion is as bad as men objectifying women in those centerfolds. Do you agree or do you think it’s okay to appreciate a beautiful form as long as it’s not for prurient purposes?

Inquiring minds want to know on this wet and dreary Monday morning.

  1. I agree with Pat. We enjoyed seeing Bert and then went on and read the articles in the magazine!

  2. I was a 36 y/o mother of three when Burt
appeared in Cosmo in all his “glory.” We all giggled, of course, then went on about our daily caring of the children.
After all, it was just Burt being himself! He was always being the jokester of the world! The media made more of the photo situation (as they always do) than we did. Everyone I knew that saw the photo just thought it was funny, no prurience about it!

  3. Oh, by all means, let’s be prurient!
Look at Burt in this iconic photo – he’s having a gay ole time! He loves it and is grinning away thinking of all the ladies ogling his furry self. Frankly, for me, it’s Burt’s voice and wicked, wicked grin that’s always been the most attractive thing about him, which is why he’s still sexy even now, even with the hair pieces and bad movies.

My feminism rejoices in the equal opportunity to ogle men. I think as long as it’s not demeaning or illegal or anything along those lines – carry on!

  4. I love your Guilty Mondays… I look forward to seeing what you have. And I love the body ~ male or female. They are a beautiful thing…

  5. I see nothing wrong . I enjoy looking at a handsome male but I also like to see beautiful women. They please the senses. Lets you know yhere is beauty in the world beside Nature’s beauty. Have a great day and enjoy beauty wherever you see it.
