Fun Friday – Holiday Traditions

Snowman Holiday TraditionsIt’s that time of year when I can’t stop thinking about all the fun and wonderful things that the holiday season brings. For me the best part of it is getting to spend time with my family. We always go and chop down our tree, play tourist in New York City and share Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Eve with family and friends.

Here’s a shot of my dining room, all ready for those family and friends!

How about you? What are some of your fun holiday traditions? What other fun things do you have happening today or over the weekend? Please share with us.

  1. Talk about being prepared! That dining room looks stunning and terribly festive!

We spend Christmas Eve at my brother’s. Four small kids looking forward to Santa’s arrival will always get one’s holiday spirit pumped. After an evening of food, family, gifts and fun, we drive back home (about 35 minutes), all the while talking about (and looking for) Santa’s sleigh in the sky. My boys are 12 and 14 and still look forward to this.

Christmas Day is anybody’s guess. New Year’s Eve is usually home and out on our lawn at midnight with our neighbors; one does fireworks for the rest of us.

    Happy Holidays to all!

  2. Hi Caridad! As a matter of fact, we just got done participating in one of our favorite Christmas traditions. One of the churches in our neighborhood has a German X-mas market. They serve German food, have a large cookie market, German bands and every year my son makes a gingerbread house there. We have a lot of memories in those gingerbread houses. We date them every year and every house seems to get more elaborate every year. Ahhhh the memories.

  3. What a pretty and festive dining room, if that doesn’t put a person in a jolly spirit nothing will.

Since we’ve bopped all over the place, it’s hard to do some traditions for us like chopping down our own tree. The one thing we have always managed to do is to put up the decorations on the Friday after Thanksgiving with the whole family participating.

Then there is the 4 days of celebrations with Christmas Eve, Christmas day, birthday, birthday. By new years we’re all partied out. 😆
