Guest visit with Denise Robbins and her Sexy Phish Net Stalkings

I’m still in DC and will have some photos for you tomorrow, but for now, I have the lovely Denise Robbins who is here to help me out!

Please welcome Denise who is sharing a little bit about her latest release, PHISH NET STALKINGS, and also offering up some writing tips that she’s found useful!

So without further ado, here’s Denise…

High-tech becomes high-risk in Denise Robbins’ novels. The New Hampshire based author uses two decades of experience in computers to explore the killer possibilities in technology. Denise integrates her knowledge of computers and technology along with secrets, intrigue, suspense, and even a little romance into all of her techno-romantic thriller novels. Readers and reviewers agree Denise writes stories that will keep you at the edge of your seat and clamoring for more.

Her latest book is Phish NET Stalkings.

ABOUT PHISH NET STALKINGS
All she wanted was to find love. Was that too much to ask? How difficult could it be to find one man, the perfect man for her?

After dating the losers of the century, Jane decides there has to be a better way. She turns to an online dating service. After all, they guarantee a ‘happily ever after’ or your money back.

Jane East, CEO of Not-So- Plain- Jane’s organic cosmetics wants to fall in love with a man who makes her toes curl when he kisses her. Unfortunately, the one man who makes her toes curl also wears ladies’ pink underwear and a badge.

The pink underwear she could probably deal with, but the badge is a different story.

Ever since seeing her mother and granny Pearl murdered by men with badges, Jane has a fear of cops and anyone who carries a badge. Especially, because the killers are still on the loose and searching for her.

Former FBI Cybercrime special agent turned small-town Chief of Police, Cooper Chance, gets caught with his pants down and his family jewels tucked in pink ladies’ underwear with lacy frills when he meets the woman of his dreams. That’s not his only issue. The woman has a fear of cops. If he can get past her guard, maybe he can save her life.

Denise’s Tips on Writing:

1. Write! If you want to be a writer you must write.

2. Know your characters. Readers want to be able to see, touch, smell and practically be able to talk with your characters. They want them to jump off the page.

3. Learn about passive voice and don’t use it. It’s bad, very bad. It you want your words to show action then use and active voice.

4. Have others read your work. I highly recommend having men and women read your writing. The best is when a man says, “No guy would say that.” Then get the guy to tell you what he would say.

5. He said – She said. If there are only two people in a conversation in your writing try to avoid he said – she said. The readers should be able to tell by the tone, the words, by knowing your characters.

6. Join a writer’s group. If you want some love and support while you pursue your dream, join a writing group. They will offer all kinds of advice, sympathy, and boosts of creativity.

7. Don’t be afraid. Rejection is going to happen. It’s a fact of life, just like paying taxes. We all hate it, but it happens. When you receive the rejection, read it, have a good cry, yell and throw things if you must, but then say, “Oh, well. Next!”

8. Start your blog and your Internet presence now. Let folks know you exist and start figuring out your brand. What is going to make you unique from every other author out there? Then tell everyone about you and your writing. We are a great community and we tend to embrace new writers.

9. Read! If you don’t like reading then how can you write? If you don’t read then how do you know who your market is for your writing?

10. Have fun! Writing is an art and it comes from the heart. It’s not a ‘job’, it’s a love. And just like any love you have, you should enjoy it and have fun with it.

Thank you so much Denise! I appreciate you helping me out!
