All the Fun Starts After Dark Interview & #Giveaway & a Little Secret

I don’t know about you, but I really need some fun on this wet and dreary Fun Friday! How better to start it off than an interview and giveaway at the wonderful ALL the Fun Starts After Dark blog.

Ever wonder about a writer’s favorite writing space? Or how they handle bad reviews? Just pop on on over to the blog to find out.

On another note, I have a little secret to share with you: It’s hard to get me to laugh.

Seriously. I smile often and am generally happy, but making me laugh takes work. Especially those full belly kinds of laughs that take your breath away and sometimes make you embarrass yourself in one way or another. So when I find a show that does that for me repeatedly and is doing not so hot in the ratings, I feel compelled to share it with you.

That show is . . . ANIMAL PRACTICE on NBC. Seriously. I know. You’re shaking your head and saying, “What? Did you lose your mind?”

No, seriously, I didn’t. Hubby and I sat down to catch up on the episodes we’d missed and we both were laughing as hard as could be.

The lead character isn’t your typical alpha. He’s super smart, but emotionally distant and turning out to be more complex than you first thought.

The heroine, played by Joanna Garcia Swisher, is cute and the perfect foil for the hero and other oddball characters. Did I mention that she and the lead, Dr. Crane, played by Justin Kirk, have a past? Yes, so you’re rooting for them to get back together as attention flares every now and then. They could actually play this up a little more for my taste, but still, it’s good stuff.

Then there is Taylor Labine, minus his Flock of Seagulls hair. He’s cute and a nice sidekick for Dr. Crane. The rest of the cast is fun as well.

Last but not least, there is Dr. Rizzo, the non-human actor on the series. At times he steals the show. Here’s a little bit with Rizzo as a referee. Notice the Tebow.

Coach Ryan, will you give Tim a real chance this Sunday? You’re wasting him!!!

Sadly, as I was researching this blog I discovered the show was cancelled TODAY and WHITNEY will be returning in its place. WHITNEY? Seriously. No comment.

I was also surprised to hear that upwards of 40,000 people had complained about the use of animals on the show and that a PETA spokesman said, “Using animals for cheap laughs on TV shows is archaic and uninteresting to today’s viewers, who are sophisticated enough to know that not only is putting a monkey in a lab coat not funny, it’s also cruel.”

Wow. Call me unsophisticated. I thought Rizzo was fabulous and funny. So NBC if you’re out there, please give this show another chance!!

I hope you all have a great weekend!
