Welcome back readers for the final part of our multi-stage mission to uncover the secrets of the Dangerous Passions box set! It’s little ol’ me going under the microscope with a little mad science to craft the perfect alpha in “Stronger than Sin”.

She can rebuild him, make him stronger than ever… but at what cost? @CaridadPineiro‘s “Stronger than Sin” Dangerous Passions http://bit.ly/DPAmzUS #DPBoxSet

Blurb

Dr. Liliana Carrera almost lost her life to Wardwell scientists gone wild…

She doesn’t want to have any part of another science experiment involving human guinea pigs, but she also can’t ignore innocent victims, like her new patient Jesse Bradford. A former NFL superstar, Jesse was forced to undergo Wardwell’s experimental treatments when a genetic bone disease cuts short his promising football career. Now Jesse’s amazing body is like nothing Liliana has ever seen before, but the cure Jesse wanted has come at a very high price. His body is almost no longer human and the genes implanted by Wardwell create incredible strength, but also frightening rage. As a survivor of violence, that rage scares Liliana more than she wants to admit, especially when she finds herself attracted to Jesse.

Jesse Bradford would trade almost anything to return to the game he loves . . .

Anything except his family. When a black ops group threatens his family, Jesse has no choice but to go along with their plans and keep his secrets from Liliana. But it’s tough for Jesse to ignore her kindness and the way her gentle healing touch rocks him to his core. As passion awakens between them, the secrets Jesse is keeping will become ever more dangerous. Is the love growing between them strong enough to fight evil men intent on changing the face of humanity? Or will lies and mistrust break the fragile bonds and bring the risk of death?

Teaser

Jesse wasn’t in his bed when she walked into the room.

Closing the door and locking it behind her, she glanced around the large suite and noticed that he was out on the balcony that faced the beachfront.

Striding toward him, she stopped to put down the bag of take-out she had brought on a low coffee table in a sitting area near the windows and French doors leading to the balcony. She had dropped by her parents’ place again, received another helping of her mother’s soup and other goodies intended to help Jesse feel better.

While she wasn’t sure that there was any medical basis for thinking the food might assist, she knew that mentally it did her a world of good. It reminded her of her roots and the love her family had for her. Something Jesse seemed to have lacked, which saddened her.

Jesse, she thought, staring at his back as he stood facing the ocean. A strong wind was blowing westward, ruffling the shorter strands of his hair.

She hadn’t had a chance to tell him that she liked the change – the shorter hair and clean shaven face.

She wondered if had done it for her which caused a skitter in her midsection along with warmth farther below that he had cared enough to do it.

She had come to discover that about him. Despite all the tabloid gossip and bad boy antics, he cared about others. His sister. Mother. Possibly even the father that denied his existence.

Maybe even her.

She laid her hand over her fluttering midsection and walked to the French door. He seemed distant, a solitary figure looking almost lost against the vastness of the ocean before him.

Not wanting to intrude without welcome, she rapped on the glass door and waited for his reception.

He turned, his face grim and set in sharply chiseled lines. They relaxed somewhat as he saw her, grabbed the handle of the door and slid it open.

She stepped out onto the balcony and he closed the door behind them.

The wind increased the chill of a day that was quickly fading to night. Intense reds and purples painted the sky and the ocean had darkened to slate grey with the arrival of night.

“Cold,” she said and wrapped her arms around herself. Even though she still had on her winter jacket, the wind seeped beneath the wool, which made her wonder how he stood there in nothing but fleece sweats braving the wind. Once again staring out at the ocean. The white of the bandage at his temple a glaring contrast to his skin in the dim dusk.

“Aren’t you cold?” she asked and patted her arms to try and generate some heat.

He hunched his shoulders, shot her a half glance. “I wasn’t sure you’d come back.”

“I said I would. I needed to see how you’re doing.”

He gave another shrug, seemingly indifferent except she sensed undercurrents beneath. Dangerous ones.

“I’m here. I’m alive. Consider your obligation fulfilled.”

A self-defense mechanism? she wondered. Push her away –push what he was feeling away – in order to keep from being hurt?

Only as she had discovered after pouring her heart out to Carmen, it was no easy thing to keep him at bay. Somehow he had touched her. Infiltrated those areas she had thought safe.

Trying to shore up her defenses, she beckoned toward the bag of food on the table within. “I brought food. I thought you might be hungry.”

Some emotion finally cracked the stern lines of his face. A hint of a smile and glitter in eyes that had gone to slate grey. He took a long stride toward her, until barely inches separated them. Laying a hand at her waist, he bracketed her side with it, sending her insides quivering.

Jesse glanced down at her, sensing the tremor in her body.

She was as aware of him as he was of her. At his touch, her gaze had gone wide, revealing eyes that were nearly black with desire. When she moistened her lips, the last of his restraint disappeared.

He bent his head, whispered against her lips. “I’m hungry, but not for food.”

Then he closed the distance and kissed her.

#TeaserTuesday STRONGER THAN SIN from the Dangerous Passions Box Set

DP3D_200My contribution to the DANGEROUS PASSIONS box set is my kind of sci fi paranormal romantic suspense STRONGER THAN SIN.

It’s the perfect book for this set since the passion between sexy football player Jesse Bradford and Dr. Liliana Carrera is fraught with danger as Jesse and Liliana fight against the evil black ops group that is threatening their lives and that of Jesse’s sister.

Jesse and Liliana have to be one of my fav couples from all the books I’ve written. There is just something about their deep sense of honor and connection to family that made their relationship more powerful for me somehow.

I hope you thought so, too, if you’ve read the book. If you haven’t, here’s your chance to read it and 11, yes ELEVEN, other awesome stories in the DANGEROUS PASSIONS box set, only 99 cents for a limited time.

And now, a sexy little teaser with Jesse and Liliana.

SINS OF THE FLESH Paranormal SuspenseCaterina woke him with the gentle whisper of her lips against his. Invited him to join with her.

“Are you sure?” Mick asked, his voice husky from sleep.

That he asked confirmed to her just how different a man he was from her father who would have never sought to seek another’s permission for anything.

“I’m sure,” she replied and so that there would be no doubt about it, she grabbed the hem of the t-shirt he wore and made short work of pulling it off his body.

She pressed against him, warm skin against skin. The hard tips of her breasts brushing his smooth chest as they kissed over and over.

Beside the soft flatness of her belly, his erection jerked to life and hardened.

Laying her hand over him, she caressed the shape of him beneath the denim and he groaned into her mouth, reached down, and undid his jeans.

The hard length of him sprang forward and she encircled him with one hand, stroking him. Urging him onward as he cupped her breasts and teased her nipples with his hands, drawing a pleased sigh from her.

“Make love to me,” he said and sat up against the headboard. He urged her over him with the gentle grasp of his hips and she needed no further invitation.

She held onto Mick’s shoulders and sank down onto him, gasping as the length and width of him filled her. As the comfort of his arms surrounded her and drew her near until she was tight against his chest.

She couldn’t move, overwhelmed as she was by the sense of unity in his arms. Desire growing with her possession of him along with something else. Something she could no longer deny.

“When I’m with you . . . it’s like my soul is filled with music,” she said as he cradled her face in his hands and tenderly brushed his lips across hers before moving them to her cheeks and then to her forehead.

“It’s special for me, too,” he whispered, the words so soft she thought she might have imagined them until she met his gaze and it confirmed his sentiment.

“Very special,” she responded, earning a smile from him which she kissed, memorizing the feel of it against her lips as a talisman for what would be the hard days to come.

He returned the kiss and then she moved on him, offering herself up to him. Accepting what he offered in return.

As she slowly rocked on him, he bent forward and suckled her breasts, alternating between them while holding them in his hands.

Teasing the sensitive tips with his lips and hands, each little tug traveling down to her center to heighten the pleasure growing in her body.

“Touch me down there, Mick. Please, touch me,” she said, needing him in every possible way.

#FunFriday My Writing #Playlist & Excerpt Wars

I wanted to change things up and offer you something fun that will hopefully get you looking forward to the end of Friday and a fabulous weekend! It’s chilly today in NY/NJ, but we are looking at weather in the 80’s. There are some fun things happening this weekend. Taking a walk with a girlfriend to check out the British Car Show in Ocean Grove. I love cars, especially those little MG roadsters.

Going for a run with my daughter on Sunday. She’s been doing the From Couch to 5K workout and I’ve been stepping up my game since we made a deal to run a 5K together next year. Wish us luck!

Excerpt Wars are still going strong at the Tall, Dark and Paranormal Fan Page. Please visit the page for details on how to win a $100 Gift Card or e-books.

I’ll share my excerpt down below, but for now, today’s Fun Friday is a playlist for songs that get me going! Sometimes it’s just the catchy beat, other times the theme, but for whatever reason, these songs are on my must listen to playlist. So here goes!

Caridad’s Playlist

Excerpt Wars!!

Here’s my excerpt for today’s Excerpt Wars! This is from SINS OF THE FLESH, my contribution to the box set.

SINS OF THE FLESH Paranormal Suspense“Easy, Cat. They’re just memories,” Mick said softly.

She grabbed hold of his t-shirt, her hands fisted tightly into the fabric as she keened like an animal. Only the press of her body against his was very human and very womanly.

Too much so, Mick realized, fighting his visceral reaction to her proximity.

“Why is this happening?” she murmured against his chest, rubbing her head there as if by doing so she could erase the images.

He cradled the back of her head with immense restraint and tenderness, sifting his fingers through the thick curls. “They gave you small doses of LSD in addition to a bunch of other hallucinogenic drugs. It may take a little while for all that medication to work out of your system.”

“What’s a ‘little while’,” she said and wagged her head more forcefully, as if trying to dislodge the visions.

As he glanced down, he realized she had gone all camo on him again. Her hands were the color of his dark blue polo shirt and the rest of her was beginning to blend into the rust brown of the over-sized t-shirt he had offered her to wear.

“A couple of days or even weeks. It’s hard to tell with LSD, but try to focus, Cat,” he urged, recalling the mantra she had used the day before to regain control.

She listened to his command. She repeated the word over and over and as the tightness left her body, so did the color, but not before she caught a glimpse of herself in her altered state.

She released him and raised her hands. Held them before her and examined them while her skin slowly faded back to normal.

“What am I?” she asked, puzzlement in the stormy ocean blue of her eyes when her gaze skipped to his.

He could have lied. Tempered his words with tenderness, but he had a limited quantity of that and holding her had expended most of it.

“A science experiment,” he said, released her, and returned to his spot in the chair.

Her eyes narrowed as she considered his statement. The soft curls of her hair bobbed back and forth with the motion of her head as she said, “They were supposed to help me.”

“You’re not blind anymore,” he reminded, although he wasn’t sure she would consider that a worthwhile trade-off to becoming someone’s lab rat.

He wouldn’t.

She leaned back against the headboard, raised slender elegant fingers to her temples and rubbed tiny circles there. “Toward the end, when I was sick, I couldn’t see. But it was the pain in my head . . . ”

Meeting his gaze directly, she said, “It was the pain that stole the music.” Tapping a spot above her heart with one hand, she added, “My music.”

The passion in her words was unmistakable.

He understood it. Admired it.

He couldn’t allow those sentiments to change what he had to do. “Someone killed Wells. Do you know who?”

“If I did, don’t you think I’d tell you so you’d let me go?” she shot back.

“Not if you were the one who did it,” he replied calmly, barely controlling his smile at her show of spunk. He liked feisty Cat much more than the mewling weak Cat the drugs had created.

She threaded her fingers into her hair, pulling it back off her face. Releasing the long locks to fall back onto her shoulders as she said, “Why don’t you turn me over to the police? Let them decide.”

He shrugged and intentionally kept his tone neutral. “Because I’ve been paid to return you to Edwards.”

Her skin paled for a moment before a bit of the t-shirt’s rust color leaked onto her body.

Fight or flight, he thought again.

“You’re afraid of Edwards. He hurt you?”

“Morales. Edwards,” she admitted, looking downward at the sheet covering her body. Plucking at the folds of it nervously before she asked, “Are you going to give me back to Edwards?”

“Do you think that’s what I’m going to do?” he said, perversely intrigued to hear her initial thoughts about him.

She slowly lifted her head and tilted it at a slight angle. She examined him intently, but the look wasn’t one like he generally received from most women. This one reminded him of the look from one of his elementary school teachers.

Exasperated described it best. That brought a disappointment he didn’t understand, so he arched a brow and said, “Well?”

She raised her chin a defiant inch. “I think that if you were going to do that, you would have done it already.”

Her slightly rebellious response roused his smile once again. “So what do you propose I do?”

Her chin shot up another tiny bit, but there was nothing tiny about the determination in her voice.

“Help me find out who killed Dr. Wells.”
