#MotivationMonday – Per Aspera Ad Astra

You’re probably thinking “Aren’t Monday mornings hard enough without you tossing Latin at me?” LOL! Yes, they are tough and so are so many things in life. Lately it seems a challenge to just keep on going and yet, if you didn’t what would you accomplish? So this morning I told myself to find something motivating and came across that phrase: Per aspera ad astra. In English: Through Hardship to the Stars.

So when you’re feeling down, just keep that in mind. After the challenge comes the reward.

#MotivationMonday Meets #ManCandy

I am just back from the Fall in Love with New England Conference and I had a blast. I’ll share some photos later in the week!

Today I have with me my friend LG O’Connor who is providing an excellent mix of Motivation meeting Man Candy. How did I get to that? Well, lots of us need motivation to get cooking and what better way to inspire us than Man Candy in the kitchen? LOL!

So here is some info on my friend’s latest project: A recipe book by the hero of her novel, Caught up in RAINE!

Please welcome LG O’Connor and Raine!

Book Description:
For the record, this cookbook was Jillian’s idea. So was the hashtag, #hotguycooks. She thought I should share my mad cooking skills with the world. Well, maybe not the whole world, but people like me who have partners with an aversion to kitchens. We can’t let them starve, can we?

For those of you who don’t know me, when I first met Jillian all she had in her fridge was a jug of water, a jar of mustard and a half loaf of bread. Her freezer was empty except for an old bag of ice. I thought, “Damn, what does this woman eat?” Now I’m the only thing standing between real food and Jillian living on a steady diet of yogurt, cold cereal, and chocolate.

This isn’t your ordinary cookbook. It’s more like a medley of favorite recipes, some seasonal, all done Raine-style. Check ’em out. I skew toward organic when it comes to ingredients, and where I can, I substitute a healthy option. #sorrynotsorry. Most of my recipes come with tips, advice, and a small slice of my life with Jillian. The goal: to make you look like a culinary rock star to your significant other. So, come on, step inside the Roost. Poke around and see what’s cooking. Pull up a chair and hang out. The kitchen’s open.

~Raine

Mondays are for Fresh Starts #MotivationMonday

There is an old joke that goes like this:

Question: When do most diets start?
    Answer: Tomorrow.

LOL! The truth of it is we often set aside things which challenge us in some way. Whether its changing our eating habits, exercising more, starting a new book (like me), ending a fight, standing up for oneself . . .

It’s not uncommon to say, “I’ll do it tomorrow” or “Come Monday, I’ll get started”.

So it’s Monday and it’s a day for fresh starts. Take a deep breath and set aside those fears. Think positive about what you’re about to undertake and just give it a shot. You’ll never know if you can succeed until you take that first sometimes scary step.
