Sharing My 15 Seconds of Fame on Cafe CNN

Okay, so maybe it was more than 15 seconds. I was on air for about 5 minutes discussing romance novels and they showed the covers for the SINS and SIN HUNTER series a number of times. Very exciting. I tried my best to talk about why romances and paranormals were popular, although the discussion kept on trying to turn to the sensuality of the novels. I hope I managed to get it back on point to why we love getting involved with the characters, especially heroes and heroines who save the world, and of course, the happily ever after.

The morning started with us clearing security and then heading up to the green room to wait and go to the make-up area. This is me waiting in the green room.

After that, I was rushed into the make-up room for a touch-up. As I walked in to the room, who was there? Alexis Bledl, best known for being Rory on GILMORE GIRLS, and America Ferrara from UGLY BETTY.

OMG! Alexis had stunning blue eyes and was a beautiful girl. America was adorable and so petite. Unfortunately, they were escorted out to go to their event just a couple of minutes later. Apparently several shows were taping/being aired at one time in the studios.

Next I was ushered down to the studio where I got miked up and spoke to the producer in Atlanta who prepped me for when the anchor from Cafe CNN, Lucia Navarro, would come on board. Barely seconds later, the anchor came on and we started chatting.

Here’s a picture of me on the air with the studio in Atlanta. I was on for about 4 to 5 minutes discussing romance novels and I managed to get a plug in for my books. Hopefully I’ll have a link for the interview to share with you shortly.

And then it was a big sigh. It was done. Wow. It was so exciting and I was so nervous, but I thought it went well. Here’s a photo of me on the set after the big gig!

Hope you enjoyed this!

#ManCandyMonday Paul Brown from Auction Kings

I think you all know by now I am a geek at heart. I read the encyclopedia as a kid, loved taking things apart, dreamed of adventure, and finding all kinds of cool things. I guess that’s why my taste in reality shows runs to things like Storage Wars and Auction Kings!

Today’s Guilty Pleasure is Paul Brown, the owner of Gallery 63 where Auction Kings is set. There is just something about Paul’s sense of humor, little boy grin, and hot bod that have me watching the show!

Let me know what you think of this tidbit from Discovery Channel’s Auction Kings.

Networking and Getting Out and About

My friend Rayna Vause and I headed to Georgia at the beginning of the month on a new adventure – the Moonlight & Magnolias Conference!

It was a fabulous conference run by the Georgia Romance Writers and many thanks to all the wonderful organizers there for a great event.

You must wonder what that has to do with Tuesday and Tips of any kind and here it is – You’ve heard me say it before and I’ll say it again – Networking!

One of the most important things you can do both before and after getting published is to get out and about and expand your horizons. Meet new people. Make new friends. Gain more knowledge that will help you not only write better, but also learn about the publishing business.

Some people go to the same conference every year. Sometimes that’s good if it’s a solid conference that brings in new blood and new possibilities. But it’s also important to allow room (and funds) for different conferences and adventures.

I’m glad I took my little adventure to Moonlight & Magnolias! It was a great group of people and there were some wonderful workshops and events. Thank you Georgia Romance Writers!

Here are a few photos for you from the conference. If anyone out there has more (I know I posed for bunch of photos), please send them to cpsromance at att dot net.

Dragon Con Day 2

Heaven. . . I’m in heaven . . .
‘Cuz were out together dancing geek to geek.

Okay – I’m out of the closet and proclaiming my inner geekdom. It’s always been there, but now I’m out! Of course, I think you kind of knew I was that way when I told you I was a science major in college.

The conference is totally amazing! I am so impressed by the costumes people have put together and the way some of these people just slip in and out of character. Awesome.

Steampunk seems to be all the rage this year. Lots of people dressed up in Victorian-style clothing with all the alternate weaponry/technology attached.

Some interesting Celtic, Alternative and Goth bands playing music in the common areas.

And total fan girl moment — I saw James Marsters (formerly Spike on Buffy) on his way into the elevator! Couldn’t move fast enough to snap his picture, but boy, was he handsome!!! 😯

I’ve got a mess of pictures for you. You can watch this slideshow or use this link to visit the album:

DragonCon Day 1!

Arrived yesterday and was busy running around gathering everything to set up the booth and during down time, working on the next book in the SINS book – STRONGER THAN SIN. Got a lot done and then everyone started arriving at the hotel. By 7 pm we were down in our booth area, starting to set up for today when the exhibits open at 1.

Here’s step 1 of our booth – # 707 in case you’re down in Atlanta!

We have a beautiful poster for our booth – Surrender to the Night is our theme.

Meet my booth buddies: Joy Nash, me, Susan Sizemore and Raz Steele!

The view from our hotel room!

Last night was a blast, but tiring. We didn’t get to the restaurant for dinner until nearly 9:30 because we were setting up the booth and getting organized. The restaurant was close to the bar and what a sight! Dozens of people in costumes. Storm troopers, Star Trek officers, a zombie Elvis serenading people. Lots and lots of men in kilts and let me tell you – whoa, very sexy.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the camera then (will learn to always keep it with me!), so I hope to have more pictures for you either later today or tomorrow.

Stay tuned!

Guilty Pleasures Monday – Clark Gable

Clip from Movie Trailer - Public Domain according to WikipediaI realized after last Monday’s Guilty Pleasure (the manly Eric Dane), that there were a number of old time favorites I had been ignoring on our Mondays together.

Sure there are tons of glorious new men for us to share, but there’s also a host of oldies who will live on thanks to the many movies in which they appeared.

Here’s one of my favorites – Clark Gable – and in one of my favorite books and movies of all time — GONE WITH THE WIND. Definitely a movie that needs to be seen on the big screen!

Was Clark one of your favorite oldtime stars? If not, who else is? Share with us on this Guilty Pleasures Monday.
