Have a great time in Nashville!

Having a good time hanging out with other writers and also doing some sightseeing. Taught a session today on dialogue and was happy with how it went. Nashville is very interesting and I’m looking forward to exploring it some more in the next few days. These pictures are from the Gaylord as well as Downtown Nashville!

#MotivationMonday – Inspiration and Perspiration

Wow, what a busy two weeks! I’ve been off to two different writing conferences and have come back charged up and inspired to get so many things done for the end of this year and next. Very exciting for me and hopefully for you as that will mean more stories, giveaways, and more.

The best part of both conferences was getting to meet new people and chatting with them about their writing and their lives. Such interesting people with such diverse backgrounds must add so much to the stories they tell. It was also great to get together with old friends and get to spend time with them since some of them are long-distance friends.

In addition to inspiration, there was also perspiration involved since I taught at the first conference and then had a number of meetings and signings at the second. All in all, however, I had a great time!

#TipTuesday – Are You Ready for a Conference?

It’s conference time for me and I’ve prepared the handouts for the classes I’m teaching and I’ve also prepped for what can sometimes be tiring days. Some snacks in case my energy is lagging, a water bottle to stay hydrated, comfortable shoes, both comfortable and dressier clothes, computer and cables, and last but not least, business cards.

Alas, I forgot the business cards. Big duh! What else should you be ready to do? SOCIALIZE! Yes, go out there and meet new people. One of the most fun parts of any conference is mingling with writers and readers from all over and sharing our common passion: books. It really makes for a different conference experience when you put yourself out there which is not always an easy thing to do.

So stay positive and have fun at whatever conference you may be attending!

#TravelTuesday RWA 2018 Denver

Sorry I’ve been missing, but I’ve been out of town for writing conferences. I really enjoyed the International Women’s Writing Guild conference and hope I’ll be able to go back next year.

The RWA conference in Denver this year was nice. I got to hang out with old friends, make new ones, and attend a workshop. I wish I could say more positive things about it, but unfortunately I felt my conference was marred by the actions of some. Just my humble opinion, but it was one shared by others. I’ll leave it at that. For now, sharing some photos from Denver. It was a fun city and I enjoyed being able to visit the Margaret “Molly” Brown house as well as the Brown Palace Hotel and Spa (no relation to Molly!).

#ThrowbackThursday – RWA National Conference at Disneyworld

Last year’s RWA conference was so much fun on so many levels. Great workshops, wonderful book signings and most of all, getting to spend time with both old friends and new ones! It was great to see so many people in and around the conference hotel as well as at the Literacy Signing. It was also so nice to spend time with some buddies on a trip to Disneyworld where we got to see the awesome fireworks. I just love fireworks. Believe it or not, this photo was taken with my smartphone. The cameras in them are getting better and better every day.

This year’s conference is in Denver and if you’re in that area, I’d love to see you. The Literacy Book Fair is open to the general public and all proceeds go to a local literacy group so it’s for a good cause. For more info, you can visit www.rwa.org.
