#ThrowbackThursday Liberty States Fiction Writers Conference

Today is a throwback to the wonderful 2010 Liberty States Fiction Writers Create Something Magical Conference. These are my buddies Anna DeStefano, Virginia Kantra, and Tara Nina.

Virginia is one of the speakers at the 2017 conference.

This is a great conference with an awesome Reader’s Track! I’ll be going this year and hope you can make it so we can spend some time together. You can click here for more information on the Liberty States Fiction Writers Create Something Magical Conference.

#TuesdayMotivation Inspiration & Fun at #RWA16

I had lots and lots of fun at the RWA Conference this year, but I was also inspired and motivated to get to work on both old and new projects and to try new things to improve my career. I always feel more energized after the conference and this year was no different, maybe possibly better. I managed to do my first keynote speech and a workshop on juggling careers and life. I spent time with dear friends and made new ones. All in all, a fabulous time.

So today, I’m sharing some photos from the conference and I hope you enjoy them!

#WriteWed Conferences and Craziness

I feel like the year is just flying by! It’s already mid-March and I’ve got the awesome Liberty States Fiction Writers Create Something Magical Conference this weekend. I’m excited to be doing a workshop there and the book fair on Saturday, which is open to the general public. If you’ll be in the Woodbridge, NJ area, I’d love to see you there! The signing is from 4 to 6 pm and you can check out what other authors will be there by clicking here.

What other craziness? Well, I’ve been busy writing my story for the SUMMER HEAT box set and also working on a new project. I’ll have news for you soon on that one! Good news that I’m very excited about.

In the meantime, I’ve been working out and trying to get more fit. Writing (and working at a law firm) are both such sedentary tasks, but I’ve been up and about and on my way to 45 pounds lost. I’d love to lose another 25 to 30 by the time that San Diego and the RWA National Conference rolls around. I’ll be doing a workshop there and also participating in the Literacy Signing. Woo hoo! Very excited about that one as well.

Hope you are all having a fabulous Wednesday!

#WriteWed When Inspiration Disappears . . .

So sorry to have missed you yesterday, but it was a hectic day since my daughter, one of her friends and I went to see Jimmy Fallon. I had to finish a lot at work before I could go, took them to lunch and then went over to 30 Rockefeller Center to line up for the show. Along the way my daughter got interviewed for one of the skits and we can’t wait to see if it made it into the show. Here’s a picture of us waiting in line!

But back to reality. What happens when inspiration disappears? I have to confess I’ve been struggling with what to do this year and when. I have a new proposal and just got back some comments from my new agent! Yeah. That’ll get me going, but what really got me going was attending my local writing group’s meeting last Saturday. You can check out the Liberty States Fiction Writers here along with their awesome March conference that has both readers and writers tracks.

We had a wonderful speaker – Anne Frazier Walradt – a dear friend and amazing lady. I talked with others about what they were doing and I mapped out a schedule for me for the year. That seemed to open floodgates in more than one way. Suddenly I had some ideas for a new story and then another dear friend asked me to join another box set for mid-year. It has to be new material so . . . have to think about that story as well.

Friends inspire as do fellow writers. Much like Weight Watchers or AA, there is something about being with people with common goals and ambitions and yes, problems, that makes you feel not so alone and can help you keep on moving in the right direction.

I guess the morale of the story is – When inspiration disappears, find like-minded individuals to help you keep on the path if you feel you are drifting away from your intended course.

#WriteWed Thank you!

I can’t say this enough, but one of the best things about being a writer is getting to meet all of you. I love going to conferences and events and getting to spend time with you. It’s totally awesome. I love hearing from you on the comments and in e-mails.

So this Write Wednesday, all I’ve got is a big THANK YOU! for your support. THANK YOU for taking the time to reach out to me. THANK YOU for the reviews because they really really really do help.

thankyou

#RWA15 #NYC A fun video for you!

Wow, I am just recovering from the conference! I had a great time and it was loads of fun. I was so happy to see some of you there and to also spend time with some long distance friends. The workshops were great and I’m inspired to get to work on some new things. For now, here is Part One for you with some photos from the conference.

#ThrowbackThursday Romance Writers of America Conference #NYC #RWA2015

OMG, I have so much to get done before this year’s RWA National Conference! Luckily it’s in New York City which gives me a little bit more leeway since the travel issue is minimal. I am so looking forward to the conference, hanging out with long distance friends and hopefully meeting some of you at the Literacy book signing or at the conference if you’ll be attending.

The 2015 “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing will be on Wednesday, July 22, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the New York Marriott Marquis
in the Westside Ballroom. If you want to line up early, head to the Broadway Ballroom and RWA staff will take you down to the Westside Ballroom when it’s time for the signing. You can find out more about the signing at the RWA Website.

I’m doing three workshops at the conference! One is with my Write to Success buddies where I’ll be discussing some legal aspect of doing box sets. Another one is on Box Sets and I’ll be talking about memes, videos and other ways to promo. Last, but definitely not least, I’ll be doing a workshop with my awesome buddy Nisha Sharma on getting organized. Nisha is AMAZING at getting organized.

Of course, in addition to the book signings and workshops, I am looking forward to the mixers and parties! Today’s Throwback Thursday is to the 2011 RWA Conference in NYC and my fab dancing shoes. I wore these to the Harlequin Black and White Ball in the Waldorf Astoria so I could dance the night away. I definitely plan on wearing them again to the conference!
