We’ve got a blizzard going today. Unfortunately, that means no Philadelphia Flower Show for me this year as I was supposed to be going today. So sad. I was really looking forward to the show. The theme was Holland this year and I absolutely love bulbs like daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and more!
Instead I will be shoveling and here are some tips for you to stay safe if you’re experiencing winter snow as well.
Keep the loads light and try to push instead of lift.
If you have to lift, do so with your knees and not your back.
Keep your shoveling intervals short, no more than ten minutes at a time if you can.
Dress appropriately! Hat, scarves, gloves and good boots to stay warm.
Listen to your body and stop if you are feeling short of breath or dizzy.
And now, a photo of my snowy view this morning!
P.S. – I’m working on a new look for the website. Would love to hear what you think about it!
By this time of winter, my cabin fever has set in and I am so ready for spring! I love being outdoors. I love flowers and plants and the taste of sun warm tomatoes straight from my yard. Sigh. One of the things that keeps me going until then is the Philadelphia Flower Show! I can’t wait to go this year!
So today’s throwback is to the 2015 Philadelphia Flower Show. I’ll have lots of photos for you the second week in March.
Yes, I have cabin fever and I can’t wait for the warmer weather. Philly Flower Show is up next in March, but recently I went to a local orchid show at Dearborn Market in Holmdel, NJ. Great place with great food and garden items! If you’re in the area, check it out.
I promised you some photos from this year’s flower show and here they are. Just a few of my favorites which might make a nice wallpaper for you and get feeling like spring is almost here! To see the rest – almost 200 of them – you can click here or visit my Facebook Fan Page!
Hope you enjoyed this taste of spring and have a great weekend!
There is only one thing that says Spring to me more than the crocuses popping their heads through the soil in Bryant Park. What is that one thing? The Philadelphia Flower Show!!
Yep, it’s that time of year again. My sis, niece and I are headed to the show tomorrow, so you won’t see a Fun Friday blog for me. But . . .
Sunday is my b’day so look for a day long celebration and contest! Leave a comment on Sunday’s March 7th blog before midnight EST for a chance to win a $25 Godiva Gift Card, copy of FURY CALLS and a SINS OF THE FLESH lunch bag!
It’s the first day of Spring and it’s snowing!!! Luckily it looks like the snow is letting up and the crocuses, daffodils and other spring flowers are starting to emerge.
Since it is the first day of Spring, I’d thought I’d share some flower photos with you from my trip to the Philadelphia Flower show this year.
Also remember that the extended contest week continues until midnight EST on March 20th (Today!!). Visit any of these blogs and leave a message and you could win a copy of SOLDIER’S SECRET CHILD, an autographed ARC of SINS OF THE FLESH and a CALLING T-shirt. Also drop by Fresh Fiction on March 20th because they are featuring FURY CALLS as their Fresh Pick! (So excited about this!)
Lots of people think of crocuses as being the harbingers of spring when they poke their colorful little heads up over the remaining bits of snow on the ground.
For me, the best harbinger of spring is the Philadelphia Flower Show! Seeing all those lovely gardens and flowers help me survive the cold winter and remind me that spring is just a short time away.
My sis and I have a birthday ritual of visiting the show every year for my birthday! We’re going to the show tomorrow and I can’t wait to see it. This year’s theme is Bella Italia and I so love all things Italian. Here’s an image you can download from the site for the show. Proceeds from the show are for a good cause as well – The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
Next week we’ll be having a Birthday Bash Week to celebrate! Check back for lots of guest blogs and opportunities to win some fun prizes!
