Thursday 13 – Must See Shows on Television

With the new television season almost here, I am chomping at the bit for new episodes of some of my old favorites as well as some interesting new ones.

So today’s Thursday 13 is a list of those Must See Shows on Television!

1. Hawaii 5-0. Okay, I must confess that I’m wondering why there are so many remakes of movies and television shows. Because their safe bets? Regardless, I have to confess I am waiting for this one although a better name for the show is probably Hottie 5-0. 😉

2. Fringe. It’s The X-Files on steroids. Totally love it! Can’t wait to see what happens with Joshua Jackson and FBI Agent Olivia Dunham.

3. The Big Bang Theory. What can I say? I love nerds and these guys are amazingly funny. 😆

4. Chuck. Nerd becomes super-computer and super-spy. Love it!

5. NCIS. Great ensemble cast and Mark Harmon. ‘Nuf said.

6. Blue Bloods. A family of New York cops with Tom Selleck as the head of the family. Tom is still Guilty Pleasure material.

7. Modern Family. OMG! This has to be one of the funniest shows ever.

8. 30 Rock. Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey are amazing together.

9. Bones. The sexual tension between Bones and Booth is great and I love all the “forensics”.

10. Undercovers. Sexy lead man and romantic suspense. Have to check it out.

11. Criminal Minds. Have liked this one for a long time. Looking forward to see how things develop this season.

12. House. What can I say. The House character is quite a piece of work and now he’s in love! Should be fascinating.

13. Chase. This one is about U.S. Marshals and seems really interesting.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Thursday Thirteen. I welcome you to add any of your “Must See Shows” in the comments section.

Mark Valley – Guilty Pleasure Monday

Mark Valley by DGreenleeI’m not normally a fan of blonde men, but please tell me what there isn’t to like about Mark Valley! He’s been catching my eye for years in assorted shows, more recently in FRINGE (one of my favorite shows!). Did you know Mark married Anna Torv, his co-star in 2008?

Mark has a new show — HUMAN TARGET. I haven’t had a chance to catch it, but have it on my list of shows to check out. If you’ve watched the show, please take a moment to share with us if you liked it or not.

This week I’ve got some fun things for you – visits from two friends! Look for Autumn Jordon on January 27th and Misa Ramirez on the 28th!

Thoughtful Thursday – Time Flies

timeFirst of all, my apologies for not getting a Wicked Wednesday offering for you, but I ran out of time yesterday for a number of reasons.

In the morning I was busy finalizing the next vampire book – ARDOR CALLS – which will be out sometime in 2010. Then I had to pick up my daughter from school since she just finished her finals. It was a mad day of rushing around and watching time fly by.

Which brings up this Thoughtful Thursday topic – Time.

It’s been the subject of two of my favorite shows – FRINGE and LOST. Probably no wonder about that since J.J. Abrams has his hands in both shows.

But even before that I’ve been fascinated by all the theories of time – that it’s a mobius loop or that each decision we make creates a different branches of time, including one where we made a different decision. Then there’s the whole time seeming slow or fast on any given day.

For me, this year just seems to have gone whizzing by. My hubby feels the same way, so I asked my daughter on the car ride home yesterday, “Did this year seem to go slow for you?” to which she replied, “No, it just went way too fast.”

I was glad to hear she felt the same way, but that’s another theory of time. That it isn’t regular the way we think of it with minutes and hours being a set length. Some people think that a minute in time can actually take be longer or shorter which accounts for our perceptions of it being a fast or slow day.

What do you think? Next time you think the day is going fast, ask someone else? Do they feel the same way? If they do, does that mean that the 24 hours are going much faster than they really are?

Guilty Pleasures Monday – Joshua Jackson

I always thought Pacey made the wrong choice and should have gone with Joshua Jackson! There has always been something just endearing and sexy about him from Dawson’s Creek to his role now in the very interesting Fox show Fringe. For those of you who live a mix of paranormal with suspense, this is a great show. I call it The X-Files on steroids because it really is the next generation of FBI science thriller shows.

Joshua is great in it as the son of a mad scientist type who has to deal with old dysfunctional family issues as well as a truly unusual bunch of cases every week. If you get a chance, try it out.

Also, wanted to announce the winner of my friend Kathye Quick’s quest blog contest – JeanP. If you’re JeanP, please send an e-mail with your postal address to [email protected] to claim your CALLING T-shirt.

Thanks to all of you who dropped by and left comments!

Thoughtful Thursday – Television Shows

tvI know I’ve probably told you in the past, but I love television. Whenever I’m working on a book or cooking or exercising, the television is on. The habit goes way back. When my husband and I were first dating, he asked me if my family knew where the OFF switch was on the television.

I actually learned my first words in English from television. I vaguely recall that it was the words to the Doublemint gum commercial. You know, Doublemint adds to your fun . . .

If you had to guess which kinds of shows I watch, you’d probably guess that it would be those with either law enforcement or paranormal activities. You’d be right. I love LOST and FRINGE. I don’t miss NCIS and even catch that three hour block on USA Network when I can. BONES is another don’t miss as well as HOUSE. CRIMINAL MINDS and NUMBERS slip in there as well since I record them.

I do take time for some sitcoms, however — THE BIG BANG THEORY and CHUCK being my two favorite sitcoms. What can I say? I love nerds and both of these shows have a truly loveable collection of nerds.

What kinds of shows do you like? Are there any you won’t miss no matter what?
