It’s Wicked Wednesday and that means it’s time for an excerpt! I’m teasing you today with a little bit from When Herald Angels Sing which is my contribution to the upcoming A VAMPIRE FOR CHRISTMAS anthology.
The topic of mixing vampires and Christmas has always been fun and demanding. When I first wrote FATE CALLS from the first HOLIDAY WITH A VAMPIRE anthology, I wanted to create a sexy and edgy story, but still provide the uplifting spirit that I feel during Christmas. That sense of family, hope, love and sharing that is so important to me for the holiday. It was a tough task, but I loved the result, much as I hope you will love When Herald Angels Sing. For this novella, I reached out to one of my favorite Christmas movies, A MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL, and did a little twist on the classic Dickens tale.
In When Herald Angels Sing, a guardian angel is sent back to try and protect the soul of a troubled vampire. There is a battle going on between the Archangel Rafael and the devil who both want former sea captain Damian Winters for their side. I won’t say more and instead will invite you to check out this excerpt from When Herald Angels Sing.
LOL! April Fool! This is actually a staged shot done for April Fool’s Day in Copenhagen, a most beautiful city. Apparently Gevalia coffee does a series of ads where their name pops up on various vehicles. Kind of funny!
Thanks to Lars Andersen@wikipedia.com for releasing this into the public domain.
On a more serious note: NO SNOW! At least not in NYC and my neck of the NJ Woods. It’s even a little warmer, maybe a sign that Spring will finally arrive. Maybe. Hopefully. Please, please, please come soon!
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend. As for me, I’m working on new holiday vampire novella for Harlequin. I’ve got it almost there, but am tweaking some parts to make certain elements clearer. It’s a radical departure for me in the vampire world, I think. Very different from THE CALLING vampire novels. More similar to MORE THAN A MISSION in terms of style, sexiness and emotion. Here’s hoping my editor likes it.
SINS OF THE FLESH
November 2009 – Grand Central Publishing
Caterina Shaw’s only chance for survival is a highly experimental gene therapy – a risk she willingly takes. Now Caterina has new, terrifying powers and she’s been accused of a savage murder, sending her on the run. Mick Carrera is a mercenary and expert at capturing elusive prey. Yet the woman he’s hunting is wounded, vulnerable, and a mystery of medical science. Caterina’s innocent sensuality tempts Mick to show her how thrilling pleasure can be. The heat that builds between them is irresistible, but surrendering to it could kill them both.
