Fun Friday – New York City Sites

I know I’ve been sharing some Behind the Scenes shots for SINS OF THE FLESH and thought I’d share with you some sites from one of my favorite cities and the home of THE CALLING Vampire novels – New York City, or more appropriately, the borough of Manhattan.

As you can imagine, I spend a lot of time there thanks to my day job, but I also take some time to play there when I can and just walk around and enjoy the many different neighborhoods and New York City oddities.

One of my favorite places to go for some calm in the middle of a busy work day are the Tudor City Greens. When the weather is nice, my sis and I will often grab our lunches and head off for a picnic at the Greens which are right near my office building. Here’s a shot of one of the Greens in Tudor City.

Tudor Greens

There’s another interesting fact about Tudor City. If you take the footbridge up from 42nd Street and stand smack in the middle, you will have a one of a kind site, namely, you will be able to look from one side of Manhattan to the other!

Here’s a shot looking westward on 42nd Street. In the far distance you can see the Palisades of New Jersey.

Here’s a shot looking eastward on 42nd Street. Fairly close is the East River and beyond that Queens and Long Island.

If you’re ever in Manhattan, take a moment to enjoy this unusual spot. If you’ve watched the latest Bourne movie, it may even look familiar since there were a few scenes shot in the Tudor City area.

Have a great weekend!

Guilty Pleasure Monday – Jake Gyllenhaal

PRINCE OF PERSIA Movie PosterI thought he was cute in OCTOBER SKY, but when I saw this poster it was like – Wow, who is this hot guy?

It turned out to be Jake Gyllenhaal. Seems Disney and Bruckheimer are adapting the 2003 video game into a movie.

Disney and Bruckheimer have had a winning combo in the past (Think the Pirates trilogy). Add Gyllenhaal looking hot and I’ve got to keep an eye out for this movie.

PRINCE OF PERSIA SANDS OF TIME will be out in May 2010.

Here’s some footage they’ve released for the movie.

Guilty Pleasures Monday – Will Smith

Sexy, funny, smart, witty, decent. I could go on about all the things I think of when I think of Will Smith, but those few are a good start. Always thought he was kind of cute in Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Will has only gotten better with age.

This is a shot of him in I AM LEGEND. I definitely would recommend you see that movie. Really interesting, although I’m not so sure about the ending. Don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but the ending bothered me on various levels, but I would still say go and rent/buy this movie.

Here’s a little more of Will and the movie for you to enjoy on this Guilty Pleasure Monday.

Guilty Pleasures Monday – Clark Gable

Clip from Movie Trailer - Public Domain according to WikipediaI realized after last Monday’s Guilty Pleasure (the manly Eric Dane), that there were a number of old time favorites I had been ignoring on our Mondays together.

Sure there are tons of glorious new men for us to share, but there’s also a host of oldies who will live on thanks to the many movies in which they appeared.

Here’s one of my favorites – Clark Gable – and in one of my favorite books and movies of all time — GONE WITH THE WIND. Definitely a movie that needs to be seen on the big screen!

Was Clark one of your favorite oldtime stars? If not, who else is? Share with us on this Guilty Pleasures Monday.

Fun Friday – Tough Movie Choices

Superheroes or outerspace? Futuristic versus anarchistic? I am in the throes of making some tough movie choices this month since I’m trying to be more frugal, but there are three – count them three – movies that so need to be seen on the big screen! Such tough choices.

First there’s X-MENS: ORIGINS WOLVERINE. Hugh Jackman. What can I say. Very hot. Love superheroes. But, I suspect there aren’t as many big screen action scenes in this one compared to the other two. Here’s a trailer for you to watch!

Then there is the latest installment of the STAR TREK franchise starring sexy Chris Pine playing a bad boy Kirk. It looks like this would be a good one to watch on the big screen and it’s a tough choice between this one and my last possibility. What do you think? Does the trailer snag you?

Finally, the one that will probably win the battle since both hubby and I looked at one another and said, WOW! It’s got hottie Christian Bale, although his latest antics have worn away a lot of the hotness factor. Still, this is another franchise that I love and as Arnold said, “I’ll be back.” The franchise is back and it’s looking really good. What do you think?
