The Importance of Reading and Books

It should come as no surprise that as a writer, I believe in the importance of reading and of books. I was an avid reader as a kid and read everything and anything. History books. Science Fiction. Historical fiction. Non-Fiction. Romance, of course. I’d read and read and read, including the cereal box! LOL! We learn from books and for me, I’ve learned the importance of the past and what it teaches us for the future. It worries me that there are those intent on rewriting the past in order to control the present and the future. It’s why it’s so important to read, read.

Excited about spring! Just 1 day away!

Caridad’s Thoughts on Spring

I am so not a fan of winter! I hate the cold and miss being able to plant and eat tomatoes straight from my garden. But there’s only one more day until Spring is here and I can’t wait. I’ve already got seedlings started and have put in a few cold-hardy plants. In a little over a month, I’ll be planting flowers and vegetables and eagerly waiting for tomatoes fresh off the vine with some fresh basil from my garden.

I also can’t wait for spring because that means summer is not far behind. Summer is my absolute fav time of year. I love spending time underneath my beach umbrella, reading a good romance novel. I love taking long strolls along the boardwalk as well. I often brainstorm a new book as I stroll which is a good thing!

What about you? Do you love to garden? Do you love spring and summer? If you can’t wait until the flowers are up, check out my photo gallery with images from some past Philadelphia Flower Show photos!

#WisdomWednesday – Keep Calm and Read a Romance

I love reading, but I love reading romances even more! I’m a hopeful romantic and no matter what mood I’m in, even a horribly bad mood, reading a romance just makes me happy.

So if you’re feeling down or feeling amazing, take a moment and read a romance to just make the day even better!

#WisdomWednesday – Start a New Journey

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of reading books. My grandmother would walk us to the library and we would hang out there and read (especially since it had air conditioning and we didn’t! LOL) When we couldn’t get to the library we would eagerly wait for the bookmobile to come around. I was a voracious reader because books took me to new places and let me experience new things! So start a new journey today by picking up a new book!
Every book is the start of a new journey

A trip back to the Liberty States Fiction Writers Conference

I always look forward to my local group’s conference! It’s always a great experience to spend time with readers and writers and to attend the awesome workshops and be inspired about something I love to do: Writing!

This is a picture of me taken at the book fair which is open to the general public.

This year’s conference is from March 24-25 and if you’ll be in the area, I hope that you’ll consider joining me! For more information on the conference and the book fair, which is open to the general public, please visit www.lsfwriters.com
