#ThrowbackThursday Philly Comic Con & Laura Kaye

A couple of years back a group of us got together for a booth at Philly Comic Con. Stephanie Julian, Judi Fennell, Laura Kaye and myself had a blast there meeting people, selling books, and chasing after our own fav movie and television stars. Here’s a photo of Laura and me at our booth.

#ManCandyMonday Robert Taylor & Bailey Chase from Longmire

I’ve gotten hooked on Longmire. What’s not to like about the gruff steely-eyed sheriff played by Robert Taylor and his young handsome rival, Bailey Chase? Of course, I’ve loved Bailey from the Buffy days when he was the sidekick to Marc Blucas (Riley Finn, Buffy’s Season 4 love interest).

Plus there is the whole cowboy thing with the faded jeans, boots and cowboy hats. Man oh man, what could be hotter? Not to mention the fascinating story lines based on Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire mystery series.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words…

That’s very true for me since I’m very visually oriented. So much so, that I even write with the television on during the colder months. When it warms up, I’m out on my little balcony, enjoying the quiet of early morning and the sights. Birds and squirrels running around. Surfer dudes on their bikes, coming back from the beach. Bright blue skies and the pinks and blues of the flowers in the pots at my feet.

So visual things inspire me and when I heard about Pinterest, I just had to take a look. Oh man, am I hooked. A nice, clean and easy-to-access place for all those things that I can use for all kinds of ideas!

Hope you are all having an awesome Thursday! By the way, the Nocturnal Whispers Release Party ended yesterday and I’ll be picking a winner in the next few days and announcing it on the blog. Thanks so much to everyone who participated.

Guilty Pleasure Monday – John Schneider

First of all, many thanks to all who sent their wishes for a safe passage of Hurricane Irene. My town was spared much damage and we are in relatively good shape. No bus or rail service from this area, so hoping it is back up and running tomorrow.

Also hope that all those without power get it back real soon! I’ve got just a few pictures of some minor damage in my area and my flooded yard at the Facebook Fan Page.

Anyway, the enforced stay-at-home had me doing some writing and watching some television. One program about celebrity ghost encounters caught my eye as did John Schneider who was on the show. He was talking about a three-year old brother who died before he was born, but with whom he had a rather odd connection.

Even at 51, John looked really good and his story was interesting. I did some other checking in on John, who became a household name playing Bo on DUKES OF HAZZARD. Turns out that John is also one of the co-founders of the Children’s Miracle Network.

John has been doing a lot of work lately, with appearances on SMALLVILLE and HOT IN CLEVELAND. So here goes with this morning’s Guilty Pleasure John Schneider!

Guilty Pleasures Monday – Lights Out!

What can I say? I love ruggedly handsome men and stories about underdog boxers. Entering the ring this morning is Holt McCallany who I first saw ages ago on a short-lived science fiction show titled FREEDOM. Holt played a soldier in that show, another of my favorites – military men.

Now Holt is playing the role of an ex-boxer trying to make a comeback in the new FX series LIGHTS OUT. It has tried and true hooks that many people love a la Rocky Balboa – an underdog trying to right a wrong (a controversial split decision) and support his family.

I know I’ll be recording the premiere tomorrow when it airs on FX. If you watch the show live, let me know how you liked it!

Here’s a little trailer for the show with the very manly and rugged Holt.

Guilty Pleasure Monday – Curtis Stone

Photo Courtesy of Joseph Trotz from Atlanta, GA, United StatesWith little on the telly last night, I found myself surfing the channels until I came across the intro to CELEBRITY APPRENTICE and this delicious man snared my attention – Chef Curtis Stone. I had not known of him before and I found myself sucked into watching the entire premiere (and it so sucks that the women lost!)

Anyway, Curtis is an Aussie with that wonderful Aussie accent. Curtis has been a chef at a number of restaurants, made numerous television appearances and is the author of several cookbooks. His latest is Curtis Stone: Recipes to Put You in My Favorite Mood which was released in April 2009.

Don’t you think Curtis would be the perfect Blake? I think there is a strong similarity to the sexy vamp on the cover of FURY CALLS.
