#WriteWed Take a Chance Series #Military #Romance & #Giveaway

Wow, oh wow, talk about writing inspiration! I’ve just started STAY THE NIGHT, the next novella in the Take a Chance series and again, Wow! I am having so much fun exploring the conflict between a couple that have become strangers during the husband’s military duty, but still have passion (and maybe more) binding them together.

The hero in the story is Rafe Castillo, a Navy Seal coming home for leave before heading back for his last months of duty. His wife, Elena, was only eighteen when she became pregnant and Rafe’s honor and deep-rooted beliefs made him marry her. Of course, Rafe has kind of been in love with Elena for a very long time otherwise he wouldn’t have become involved with her.

Flash forward three years later and Elena is now a woman. A smart, sexy and independent woman who Rafe almost doesn’t recognize when she meets him at the airport. Elena has a good job, is going to college, has just gotten a promotion complete with a new company car, and she’s bought them a home.

Elena has basically moved on with her life and Rafe is not sure if he has a place in it anymore.

I’m just loving exploring that and the passion between them. I hope you’ll like Stay the Night also when it comes out in late November.

#WriteWed One Special Night Inspiration

It’s really tough to say what inspires a book. When I wrote JUST ONE NIGHT, it was really just intended to be a standalone novella, but by the time I got to the end of the book, I wanted to see more of what happens with Jase and Nickie and I also wanted to find out more about Tommy. After all, he’s Jase’s best friend and Nickie’s brother, but beyond that, he was not only able to see that they were right for each other, he was also able to push Jase to do the right thing and finally confront those feelings.

It made me wonder about Tommy and what he was really like. Why could he see those feelings? Did he have feelings of his own for someone? Was he going to get his happily-ever-after?

Dealing with Tommy’s future also meant dealing with Jase and Nickie. What would be happening with them? Would their one night become something more serious? Would Jase’s military service impact the relationship and if so, how?

Of course, Jase’s military service inspired the heroine, “Doc” Jasmine Reyes. I liked having a military connection in the first story because I honor and respect our military men, women, and their families. I knew the second story (and also other ones since I realized just two wasn’t going to be enough to satisfy me! LOL) would also have a military hero.

“Doc” was the perfect choice! Jasmine is a real hero and I loved letting her have her one special night and who knows, maybe more than one.

I hope you liked these behind the scenes look at the inspiration for One Special Night.

Blueberry Walnut Pancakes #FoodieFriday & a Guest Blog

It’s Friday! Let’s get the party started with two two two things today!

Speaking of Jase, today’s #FoodieFriday is in his honor. At the end of Just One Night, Jase, Nickie and their families are having a goodbye breakfast for Jase. Since it’s a special meal, Jase gets his favorite for breakfast – Blueberry Walnut Pancakes.

Now, I have to confess: When it comes to pancakes, it’s a boxed mix for me and then I just improvise by adding other ingredients. In this case, about a cup of blueberries and half a cup of chopped walnuts.
