Happy Valentine’s Day! #ThrowbackThursday

I don’t know what made me share hubby last week instead of today, but it came to me last night as I was prepping this blog that hubby and I wouldn’t have been possible without those who came before us. So today, I’m sharing some very special people, my maternal grandparents and my mom and dad. My mom and grandma, in particular, were amazing women who provided positive role models and taught me that anything that I wanted was possible if I worked hard enough for it. No victimhood in this family even though at times things were rough for them. So today I honor them, miss them, and share my love for them with these photos. My grandparents are to the left and mom and dad are to the right. The little girl in the photo to the left is my mom!

#ThrowbackThursday A Spring Dancer

Every time I see this photo, I think of my mom maybe getting all dressed up as a dancer to welcome spring. There’s just something about the flowers in her hair, costume, and hand that scream spring to me. What do you think?

#ThrowbackThursday My Mom

It’s hard to believe sometimes that my mom has been gone from my life more than she was in it. Weird, because she made such a lasting impression on my character. She was my best friend and my mentor besides being my mom. She was also someone who always pushed me to do more, which isn’t necessarily a good thing because sometimes she pushed too much. I see myself pushing too much sometimes and have to really pull back from that because it can be damaging as well.

But anyway, here’s my mom when she was maybe in her twenties. A beautiful woman as well as smart and determined.

#ThrowbackThursday Do You Remember?

This is a picture I took at a library exhibition a couple of years ago. I had to take it because it reminded me of my mom. Why? Many many years earlier I had the opportunity to work with my mom before she passed. It was a wonderful year and one of the things she loved was to go across the street from our office to the last place that had what you see below and get their vegetable plate. So we trudged over there, loaded with change and it was an experience.

So post in the comments if you remember what these are and if you ever used one!
