Happy National Mutt Day. When I think about it, except for DECOY TRAINING, where the hero was a stray lab/hound mix, I haven’t had a mutt in one of my K-9 books. That’s something that has to be remedied in my upcoming Crooked Pass Security K-9 series. By the way, mutts are now called the “All American Dog” at events like the Westminster Kennel Club, where an All American Dog won Best in Show in 2008! The term All American Dog embodies the wide variety of dogs found in the U.S. and is also intended to encourage people to rescue dogs from shelters. In DECOY TRAINING, Decoy, the hero K-9, was actually rescued from Afghanistan, where he had helped save military hero Shane Adler after he was buried in the rubble of a building after an IED explosion.
