Sometimes less is more

When I get ready to write a love scene in a romance novel, I always try to strike a balance between the physical and the emotional. To me, getting the emotion right makes the scene more compelling than a lot of description about what’s happening physically. In fact, sometimes less is more, like in this photo. Aren’t you dying to see more? Isn’t that more enticing than showing way too much of this delicious man? LOL! If you want to check out that less versus more in my stories, compare the romance and suspense in Decoy Training or Darkness Calls against sexy paranormals like Nocturnal Whispers, Her Vampire Lover, and The Shifter’s Kiss. They’re all free on Kindle Unlimited at https://amzn.to/3M4OW2J.

Difficult Ups and Downs in Weight Loss

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted on how my lifestyle change was going. It’s been a couple of weeks of an assortment of events that made being active and eating healthy hard to do. But I’ve pushed on and tried to maintain my new changes as best as I could and the result is that I’m down another two pounds for a total of 29 pounds lost since I re-started my journey after the pandemic. That means I’m past halfway to my goal! Yeah! The one thing I haven’t been able to do is get back to strength training. Sigh. I must do that since building muscle is so important now that I’m older and because that muscle helps boost my metabolism which in turn would help me lose weight as well. If you’re on a journey also, share how you’re doing and any tips for succeeding. For me it’s tracking my calories on my Fitbit app, making sure to get 10K steps, and 30 minutes of cardio every day.

Time for some self care and a good book!

With Mother’s Day rapidly approaching, I’m thinking of all the mothers out there who sacrifice so much for their children. Sometimes they sacrifice too much and forget that they need to take care of themselves! So today I’m sharing some tips for self-care. Of course one of those tips is to read a good book because a good book always makes me feel better. If you’re in need of one, good news! Darkness Calls, the first book in The Calling is Reborn series is now FREE on Kindle Unlimited. This is a series of my heart and has been critically acclaimed over the years. If I had to give you an elevator pitch for it, think of the series as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets The X-Files! You can get Darkness Calls at https://amzn.to/42tJrjz.

Happy Cinco de Mayo Birthday

It’s hard to believe that over nine years ago our little furbaby came into our lives. We had been feeding two feral cats when one of them had kittens. Unfortunately, some of them didn’t make it, but three did and also started coming up to visit. We had decided to keep one that seemed a little smaller than the rest of the kittens. At one point one of the older cats had even left him as a “gift” before the mom took him back. When the family left him behind one day and he was sleeping alone, tucked inside one of our flower pots, I decided it was time to adopt him. He was instantly domesticated and part of our family! Happy Cinco de Mayo birthday, Slate. We are so glad you came into our lives. And yes, we’re as shocked as you that it’s been nine years since you were born!

Fun Visit to Longwood Gardens

Today’s #ThrowbackThursday is only a short throw back to Monday when I visited Longwood Gardens with my sister and a friend. We lucked out and had a beautiful day to walk around and enjoy the many sights at the gardens. There were beautiful spring flowers everywhere and we managed to see the last of the tulips. We keep on missing those and will have to work on our timing to see them in full bloom. We always have fun when we visit!

Happily Working on Danger in Dade

I’m currently working on Danger in Dade, #4 in the South Beach Security K-9 Division spinoff. This is a second chance at love story featuring ex-military policeman Brett Madison and chef Anita Reyes (You know I love my chefs!). Anita has witnessed a killing and when her life is threatened, South Beach Security (and Brett) to protect her. This is going to be an action-packed and very romantic story! I can just feel it! While doing research for it, I came across this interesting video with a sketch artist. I hope you like it on this #WriterWednesday.

Cat vs. Bird

Our cat loves to go out on the balcony in the summer, but when it’s too cold, he just hangs out by the door and watches the world go. Sometimes the world comes right up to tease him like when these two doves decided to do a little loving right on the balcony. The cat was intrigued and ready to pounce. Luckily for the birds, the screen door was closed. Hope you enjoyed this Friday Funny and have a great weekend. I’ll be at the Brookhollow Winery with 65+ other authors! So excited for these two days of wine and romance and if you’re near Columbia, NJ, I hope you’ll drop by! The book signings on Saturday and Sunday are from 12 pm to 4 pm.
