This or That: Flowers or Veggies

Happy Earth Day! As you may know from following me, I am an avid gardener but I’m also a ruthless one. If my plants don’t give me either flowers, interesting leaves, or vegetables, they are gone from my garden. The main reason for that is that in my new forever home I only have a small space to grow things and so I really have to get a big bang for my buck. What about you? Do you like to garden and if so, do you prefer to plant flowers, veggies, or both? I do a lot of both and some of my favorite things to plant are pansies which remind me of my mom and tomatoes. Nothing tastes better than a sun-ripened tomato straight off the plant! These are photos of some of the things I’ve grown in my little garden! P.S. In one of my favorite romantic suspense books – MORE THAN A MISSION – the heroine is a chef who grows a lot of what she cooks and serves to her patrons.

College Senior Dinner Dance

It seems like yesterday that hubby and I graduated from Villanova University. It’s where we met and dated and Villanova will always hold a special place in our hearts since some of our happiest times happened there. One of them was our Senior Dinner Dance where we got to celebrate with our fellow Villanovans that were about to graduate and go on to the next phase of our lives. Hubby and I had planned on going to medical school but life took us down other roads and I’m very happy it did since it made it possible for me to become a writer, something I’d wanted to do since the fifth grade when my English teacher assigned a class project to write a book for a class lending library. Today’s Throwback Thursday is a toss to that Senior Dinner Dance! I can’t believe how young we look!

Romance Writer Life – Bracelet Making

There are so many things that you do behind the scenes as a romance writer. There’s the writing, of course. The promotion which most of us hate to do but is a necessary evil. Then there’s the fun stuff like designing and making bookmarks and thinking about what kinds of special goodies you can make for readers. I’ve been making some bracelets and my daughter and I hauled out my collection of beads and string and we’ll be making some more for future events. In the meantime, here’s one of the bracelets that some of my VIP newsletter readers were lucky enough to win! If you want to possibly win some goodies like these or copies of ARCs for my upcoming releases – SABOTAGE OPERATION and ESCAPE THE EVERGLADES – please take a moment to sign up at https://bit.ly/CaridadsNewsletter. As a thank you for becoming one of my newsletter VIPs you can download a free copy of SOUTH BEACH LOVE and you’ll be able to keep up with VIP giveaways and other exclusives.

Welcome Harlequin Intrigue’s Julie Miller

I am so happy to have my friend and fellow Harlequin Author Julie Miller visiting with me today! Julie is one of the wonderful ladies who encouraged me to send a proposal to Harlequin for the Intrigue line and the rest is history as they say. Please give her a warm welcome and read on to find out how to score an autographed copy of one of her books!

Hey, Readers! Thank you to Caridad for inviting me to Takeover Tuesday on her FB page.

I’m Julie Miller, a USA Today Bestselling author of more than 75 books! Almost all my books are romantic suspense. I’m probably best known for my Kansas City cops and Precinct stories, but as a Marine Corps brat, I’ve also featured military heroes in my books. I’m a huge dog-lover (Follow me on FB to meet Daisy & Teddy, my current canines), and I’ve written many books featuring canine characters. In fact, this month on April 23rd, I’m launching a brand-new dog-focused series called Protectors at K-9 Ranch. The first book, SHADOW SURVIVORS, introduces the series, and features the ranch’s owner, Jessie Bennington, and Deputy Sheriff Garrett Caldwell. A survivor of a horrendous trauma that took nearly everything from her, Jessie turned to her dog, Shadow, for healing and protection. Her survival story motivated her to start K-9 Ranch, where she rescues and trains dogs to help other trauma survivors in a variety of ways. Romantic suspense. Friends to lovers. Mature romance. A silver fox hero in uniform. Two children running away from a devious threat. Lots of dogs in meaningful roles. If any of that appeals to you, I hope you’ll give SHADOW SURVIVORS a try.

More about the story:

With children seeking a safe haven
Her ranch becomes a refuge.

Jessie Bennington’s past motivated her canine-focused business, where she heals those who are emotionally traumatized. When two young children show up at her ranch, predators on their trail, Jessie can only trust her longtime friend Garrett Caldwell. The deputy goes into protector mode without a single hesitation. Garrett has buried his feelings for Jessie long enough. He isn’t about to let any danger come between them—or the innocent children—now.

Visit with me at Caridad’s Facebook Fan Page and tell me about your favorite dogs, real or fictional. I’ll give away a couple of books to 2 lucky posters. (Sorry, US addresses only.) Find out more about me and my books at www.juliemiller.org

Happy Girl Scout Cookie Season!

It’s that time of year! To tell the truth, however, I had a hard time finding a spot where a local Girl Scout troop was dealing…I mean selling their cookies. It’s always a dilemma choosing which ones to buy. Hubby is hands down a Thin Mints lover. I’m not so set on what to buy. This year I hemmed and hawed between Trefoils, Samoas, Tag Alongs, and the Lemony cookies. I ended up buying two boxes of Thin Mints for hubby and one each of the Samoas and Lemony cookies for myself. Normally I would buy the shortbreads which are my absolute fav but luckily I had a box of those given to me by the awesome Madison Fairbanks! THANK YOU! What about you? What’s your favorite Girl Scout cookie? P.S. Only 36 more days until the release of SABOTAGE OPERATION. I am so excited for you to be able to get your hands on this first book in the new SBS K-9 series plus…I hope to share some exciting news soon about the SBS world.
