A Happy Family Meeting

My hubby and I had an anniversary the other day and I thought I’d share this photo of the first big meeting of the parents once hubby and I realized that our relationship was going somewhere more permanent! Hubby and I are in the bottom left corner. From left to right are hubby’s dad, my dad, hubby’s mom, and my mom!

Yo ho Yo ho The Writer’s Life for Me!

People often wonder what a writer’s life is like. For starters, writing. Lots of it. Even when I was working full time I would write when I could. During my commute. On the weekends.

Now that I write full time, I spend my early morning hours on the computer as well as long sprints of writing on the weekend.

But my writer’s life also includes a lot of things to support my desire to be published. Promotion on social media so you get to know me and I get to know you! I love getting to know more about you!

Crafts. Yes, you read that right. Crafts. I like making things for readers because I hope they get to know me better with the things I make. The beaded cigar boxes, bookmarks, and these charms that I’ll be giving out at the Fall in Love with New England Conference and the Book Lovers Con.

Let’s Celebrate Flag Day!

According to the History Channel, Flag Day was officially established in 1916 by then President Woodrow Wilson.

My family flies the American flag regularly to honor the Nation that has given both sides of the family so much. My hubby’s family are Italian immigrants who came here in the early 1900s, while my family escaped the Communist regime in Cuba during the 1960s.

I think I can speak for both families when I say that this Nation has provided us a wealth of opportunities we would not have had in either Italy or Cuba. America has also given us Freedom and Liberty. It is for those reasons that I proudly fly the flag to honor this great Nation.

Do you fly the flag?

Fun Find the Differences Giveaway

Fabulous Girls Weekend

We did an awesome mother/daughter girls weekend! We visited Longwood Gardens and then the next day we went to the Philly Flower Show.

The weather was hot, but we still had a wonderful time seeing all the flowers and gardens at the two locations. On Saturday we had a lovely lunch at the Chadds Ford Tavern and dinner at Il Granaio! Highly recommend both places if you’re in the area.

Sunday was all action day after we drove to FDR Park for the Philly Flower Show. This was the first time it’s been held outdoors since it’s normally at the Convention Center. Very different and I’m torn as to whether I prefer the indoor setting.

It was definitely great to be outdoors, but there were fewer of the big garden displays that they used to have indoors.

Regardless, we had a wonderful time and would definitely go again.

Here are some photos from our trip!

Missing Your Goals

It’s a tough thing to miss your goals, but there’s one thing that’s even harder: Not even trying in the first place.

That’s especially true about writing books. People wonder how you sit down and write a book, but that’s the first thing to do: Sit down and write.

The next thing to do is to set a goal and keep on writing until you meet it. The goal can be to write a page, or a short story, or a novella, or an entire book.

But the key to succeeding is to first set a goal and to work at it until you reach that goal. After that, set another goal and keep at it!

That’s the key to creating and maintaining a career as a published author: Not giving up.
