Imagine that we’re having a party and you could bring as your date a fav author, and also your fav drink, and snack! Who and what would you bring? I think I’d bring William Shakespeare, some champagne, and Cheetos. Yes, Cheetos those telltale snacks that I can’t eat while writing!

Sharing my comfy new office!
I’ve mentioned that I wrote a lot of my romance novels on the train while commuting to and from work. But I also had to do a lot of writing on the weekends and because I spent so much time at a desk for my job, I opted for either writing on my couch or on the balcony during nice summer days.
Now that I’ve retired and I’m writing full-time, I still don’t sit at a desk. I’ve got a nice comfy futon in my office and a balcony during the summer months. Today I’m sharing a picture of my office. I’ve got lots of things as you can see, including so many wonderful gifts from some of you! I treasure them.
I’ll share a photo of my “balcony office” when it’s a little warmer and my flowers are blooming!

Happy Cinco de Mayo Birthday Slate!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been seven years since our little fur baby was born! Happy birthday, Slate. You are a chill cat and so loving. We are so happy that you were born by our air conditioning unit and that your mom and aunt left you for us on the deck.

P.S. Even though Slate was a rescue from a feral family, you can help make a difference by adopting from a shelter like the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter where we got my daughter’s cat.
You don’t need a green thumb!
If you’ve always wanted to have a plant in your house but don’t think you have a green thumb, try out an air plant! They are inexpensive and all it takes is a few spritzes of water once a week. Since air plants generally grow beneath the canopy of other trees, they don’t like harsh direct light. You can keep them somewhere they get indirect light.
They also don’t need soil so you can glue them (yes glue them) at the bottom to a piece of driftwood, shell, or nestle them in a small pot with some moss.
There are quite a number of different air plants and some have color on the leaves while others will also flower so you can have variety.
If you give them a shot, please let me know!

P.S. – Just in case you need some more assistance with growing air plants, check out this article at HGTV.
Monday Morning Commute
I used to dread Monday mornings and the commute to New York City. It wasn’t a bad commute and in all fairness, NJ Transit was pretty good. I had a seat like 99% of the time and would sit, sip my coffee, and write my romance novels until I got into the city. After that, I’d do the mile or so walk to my office and I looked forward to that for many years. It was always fun to see what was happening. How are Monday mornings for you? Do you commute? Are you still working at home?

To paint or not to paint?
I showed you a picture a couple of weeks ago of one of the handmade shell and bead decorations that I do. Many of you said that you would like to get one of these handmade items as part of a giveaway. So I’ve started working on one but have a big question for you?
To paint or not to paint? I normally make these memory boxes using cigar boxes because I like recycling them to help the environment. Sometimes I paint the exteriors, but I think that I’d like to keep their history for this memory box. What do you think? Paint the cigar box or not?

When Caridad used to be a lawyer…
This is what my office looked like before I retired. It seems hard to believe it’s been over a year since I left my legal career to write full-time, but I’m not looking back for a second. I am enjoying spending more time writing and with my family and friends.
Some things haven’t changed. I still get up at 6ish. I guess after so many years of that schedule it’s hard to break even after a year. That gives me a lot of time to write before I head out to do whatever I want. Shop. Bowl. Garden. Build things. Take a stroll along the boardwalk.
When the weather gets a little warmer, I’m looking forward to heading to the beach and spending some time tucked under the umbrella and reading a good book.
While my retirement has changed my life in a lot of ways, I know that many of you have had your lives affected by this pandemic. What have you been doing? Please take a moment to share.
