In one of her songs Gloria Estefan sings that “the one sure thing is change.” She couldn’t be more right. As I look at the calendar and see that summer is almost “unofficially” over, I ask myself how did that happen? I feel as if the year is rushing by and there are so many changes going on in my life. My daughter is getting married and that’s life-changing for her, but also for hubby and me. We’re very happy to see her entering a new phase in her life. My writing is entering a new phase as well with my new Hallmark deal (SQUEAL!) and a very different book that I’ll be doing for Sourcebooks next year. There are lots of re-releases coming for the vampire books and also a Christmas wedding book in the At the Shore series. There are my weight loss and something else that I can’t tell you about now but will be truly life-changing for me in a good way. No make that in a GREAT WAY! Change. It’s the one sure thing in life besides that other thing that shall not be named. Yes, I mean taxes darn it! Have a great Hump Day!

The Brits love their gardens and I’m always amazed by how wonderful they are even when they have only a small space with which to work. Enter Monty Don and my latest binge-worthy show: Big Dreams, Small Spaces. In this wonderful show, horticulturist and author Monty Don helps average people organize, plant, and grow the gardens they’ve always dreamed about. Whether it’s a New England beach-style garden or a completely edible garden intended to help feed a growing family, Monty dives in and not only offers his advice on how to achieve those dreams, he also labors beside the gardeners to show them how to do an assortment of tasks, from repotting to planting to pruning trees and shrubs. No job is too big or small for Monty or his amateur gardeners. It’s amazing to see the transformations of these small spaces into lovely oases. It’s inspired me to think about how I can add more plants into my small (and shared) space to really make it feel like a garden paradise. #ThrowbackThursday – Visits to the Green Market
One of the things I love is visiting the Green Market on Wednesdays to see what fresh local produce they have. I love picking up some nice greens, turnips, beets, carrots or more to cook at home. There definitely is a real taste difference when your food is that fresh! Yesterday I picked up some candy cane beets that I’m busy roasting for dinner tonight. As for the beet greens, I’ve cleaned them and put them away to cook with some olive oil and garlic tomorrow as a side dish. Nom nom nom. #WednesdayWisdom – A Blank Page is a World of Possibilities
I’ve heard it said that you can’t edit a blank page, but I understand just how daunting it can be to be sitting there, staring at your laptop, wondering how to begin or continue or end. You’re worried that what you’re putting on paper in pure crud, but understand that no one — and I repeat NO ONE — writes absolutely perfect and error-free stories right off the bat. Writers write and rewrite. That’s the nature of the beast and that blank page . . . . How about thinking of it as a world of possibilities where you can go anywhere with your story rather than a gigantic wall keeping you from writing? Just a thought on this Wisdom Wednesday!
