#WriteWed Jersey Shore Inspiration in The Calling is Reborn Vampire Novels

I love the Jersey Shore. I have peace there and my creative juices just get going when I’m down the Shore. It’s why I decided to set my new contemporary romance series, the Jersey Girl Bridesmaids, at the Jersey Shore.

It’s also why I decided to add a little bit of the Jersey Shore to The Calling is Reborn series, even though 95% of it is set in New York. There is only one book not set in New York – KISSED BY A VAMPIRE – which detours to South Beach for one of my fav character’s story, namely, Stacia, a two thousand year old vampire.

Stacia has brass and courage, much like Michaela Ramirez, the damphir who first appears in TO LOVE AND SERVE. This is the first story that vampire Slayer Benjamin appears in also and with good reason: Michaela and Benjamin were a thing, sort of. It’s not easy to have a thing with Michaela because she’s wounded and prickly and difficult. At best, Benjamin could only work up a friendship with her and hoped that in time, it would be more.

More doesn’t come with Benjamin, however, and to find out who is the perfect man for Michaela, you can check out DIE FOR LOVE.

Michaela is a Jersey Girl and there are a number of scenes in DIE FOR LOVE that occur on the Jersey Shore. There are also more scenes with Benjamin as he is reborn only to discover that Michaela has found the man for her.

#ManCandyMonday NY Met Noah Syndergaard

With a Wild Card Game to win, the Mets will have Noah Syndergaard on the mound and besides having a smoking fastball, Noah is a smoking hot guy! 6’5″ with piercing blue eyes and those golden locks. It’s no wonder that they call him Thor. Noah can also hit the ball, having had several home runs and hits as a Met. Nominated to the All Star Game this year, Noah unfortunately had to miss the game due to an injury.

Here’s hoping Thor can bring his hammer down on the Giants this Wednesday!

#FridayFun Korean Dramas and Girl Time

If you’d told me a year ago that I would have spent over 30 hours watching dramas in Korean with English subtitles I would have said, “Huh?” But my daughter and her friends were so into them and when my daughter started telling me about some of the stories, I decided to check them out. Girl time followed as we watched Reply 88 and laughed and cried and loved the HEA. So much so that when my daughter proposed another one, I jumped in with two feet.

Actually, more than that since you see, my daughter streams her reactions to the dramas for all the world to see and for this new drama, W, I’m doing the journey with her. It’s been fun, although we are behind as life has demanded our attention. But I thought you’d get a kick out of our first video together and our reactions. Maybe even check out some of the dramas on Drama Fever. Try them, you’ll like them!

#ThrowbackThursday Turn the Page Bookstore Signing 2012

One of my most exciting times as a writer was being nominated for the 2012 RITA in the Paranormal Romance category! It was so amazing to attend the awards ceremony and all the related hoopla. It was also exciting because in July of that year I got to sign at the Turn the Page Bookstore and got to sit next to none other than Nora Roberts. What a fan girl moment for me. It was all I could do not to squee! LOL!

#WriteWed Power Love Redemption Hate in THE CALLING IS REBORN Vampire Series

One of the things I’ve loved about writing THE CALLING IS REBORN Vampire series is exploring the motivations that drive some of the immortals in the stories. My desire to explore is driven by that age-old adage about absolute power corrupting absolutely. Imagine the kind of power that immortals have, whether Slayer or Vampire. Imagine what they can do once they are possessed of that power.

I’ve loved seeing how characters that start out good, like Blake from FURY CALLS, who started out protecting his younger brothers from abuse, lose their goodness when they’re turned. Blake embraces his vampire power and not in a good way, but I also love a good story about the strength of love and redemption. That’s what FURY CALLS is all about and I loved seeing how Blake retrieves the goodness inside him in order to protect the woman he loves.

Taming the Vampire Box SetIn DARE TO LOVE from the TAMING THE VAMPIRE Box set, Vampire Slayer Benjamin has maintained his goodness despite seeing his family brutally killed by vampires. #TravelTuesday More than a Mission & Secret Agent Reunion

Several years back I was lucky enough to be part of a romantic suspense series from Harlequin that included MORE THAN A MISSION and SECRET AGENT REUNION. I loved writing these stories set on a fictional island as well as London and Rome. Especially MORE THAN A MISSION which is one of my personal favorites and was also turned into a comic in both Japanese and Chinese!

These were emotional stories about sisterly love and devotion and of course, romances with strong alpha heroes and action-packed suspense. Plus, they gave me an opportunity to do some first hand research in London and Rome. While I was in London, I also did research for another romantic suspense book that I had planned to revolve around the Knights Templar. That book is still in my ideas journal and I hope to get back to it one day when I have more time to write.
