#ThrowbackThursday My Appearance on CNN en Espanol

A couple of years back I was asked to appear on one of the CNN shows to discuss romance novels and their popularity. It was very exciting to be on the show and to be able to sit next to Alexis Bledl and America Ferrera in the make-up room. Both are lovely young women and so beautiful!

There was a lot of prep involved for about a segment that couldn’t have lasted more than 5 minutes, if that. Still, quite an honor to be able to be on the show. Here’s a photo of me waiting to be interviewed on the show.

Here is another one of me at the interview table. I didn’t see the hosts live since they were at another location.

#WriteWed Inspiration for ONE NIGHT OF PLEASURE

One Night of PleasureIn Stay the Night you meet both Mark Smith and Bridget Sullivan, the hero and heroine of One Night of Pleasure (now available for pre-order).

This is part of the Take a Chance series, so I wanted to do a story about two people who stepped out of their comfort zones and reached for something that they didn’t think was within their grasp.

In Bridget’s case, it’s about allowing herself to explore her feminine side and a possible relationship with retired Navy Captain Mark Smith. Bridget doesn’t normally throw caution to the wind and do one night stands, but she’s tired of being alone and if she’s not getting the signals wrong, Mark is interested.

Mark Smith seems to have the perfect life. He’s sexy and successful. He has a thriving company and a lovely beachside home. A home that’s perfect for a family, but Mark thinks that a wife and family are something he can never have. But if he were to dream, it would be a woman like Bridget at his side. Strong, courageous and beautiful Bridget.

Here’s the official blurb for the book:

She wasn’t the kind of woman who wore fancy dresses or did one night
stands. . .

Bridget Sullivan preferred her Army uniform and work boots to elegant evening gowns. Getting all done up for some fancy Memorial Day gala wasn’t in her plans, but it’s hard to resist the thought of seeing handsome retired Navy Captain Mark Smith again. It also means spending time with the cadre of ex-military friends who have made her return to civilian life a little easier to handle. But when Mark presses for more, will she break her rigid rules for one sexy night?

The only thing he likes better than a woman in uniform is seeing her out of it . . .

Especially if it’s sexy Staff Sergeant Bridget Sullivan. Since meeting Bridget a month earlier, Mark Smith has been attracted to the gorgeous woman who seems intent on hiding her beauty and her courage. Bridget’s determination to make it in a usually male world, from her choice of the Army to her current construction job, intrigues Mark. When Bridget sheds her muddy jeans and sneakers for sexy high heels and a slit-to-there dress, Mark is more than willing to help her explore her new feminine side. But can one night of pleasure lead to more?

#TeaserTuesday STRONGER THAN SIN from the Dangerous Passions Box Set

DP3D_200My contribution to the DANGEROUS PASSIONS box set is my kind of sci fi paranormal romantic suspense STRONGER THAN SIN.

It’s the perfect book for this set since the passion between sexy football player Jesse Bradford and Dr. Liliana Carrera is fraught with danger as Jesse and Liliana fight against the evil black ops group that is threatening their lives and that of Jesse’s sister.

Jesse and Liliana have to be one of my fav couples from all the books I’ve written. There is just something about their deep sense of honor and connection to family that made their relationship more powerful for me somehow.

I hope you thought so, too, if you’ve read the book. If you haven’t, here’s your chance to read it and 11, yes ELEVEN, other awesome stories in the DANGEROUS PASSIONS box set, only 99 cents for a limited time.

And now, a sexy little teaser with Jesse and Liliana.

#FunFriday Paraskevidekatriaphobia

I dare you to say that word real fast: Paraskevidekatriaphobia. Who can even say it for starters?

But if you’re afraid of Friday the 13th, that’s exactly what you have: Paraskevidekatriaphobia. There I did it again! LOL!

So why do we freak out about Friday the 13th? There are lots of theories, but as I’ve discovered while researching them, it appears that the origins of this fear don’t really exist before the 19th century so Paraskevidekatriaphobia appears to be a more modern phobia.

But why the fear? Here’s some possible reasons!

Jesus Christ was crucified on a Friday and was betrayed by Judas, the 13th apostle. There were 13 people seated at the Last Supper and in some cultures, seating 13 at a table is considered bad luck as one of the diners may die after the meal, just like Judas. My family followed this superstition and we never ever set a table for 13. FYI, fear of the number 13 is triskadekaphobia.

On Friday the 13th in 1307, King Philip of France ordered raids on the Knights Templar resulting in the torture and /or murder of thousands of knights.

On August 13, 1521, a Friday, Cortes captured Cuauhtemoc, the ruler of Tenochtitlán (now Mexico City), bringing an end to the Aztec Empire.

In 1989 there were two Friday the 13th occurrences. On the first one in January, the Friday the 13th virus affected computers in several countries, wiping out programs and infecting data. In October, the Black Friday mini-crash shaved 190 points off the Dow Jones, the Nasdaq fell nearly 15 points and the S&P fell nearly 22 points. That may not sound like a lot, but back then it ranged from 3% to almost 7% of the total market values.

On March 13, 1931, Al Capone was indicted for tax evasion.

Italian composer Rossini died on Friday the 13th.

Scary thought if you have Paraskevidekatriaphobia: 2015 has three Friday the 13ths in it! February, March and November.

Hope you enjoyed this Fun Friday! Have an awesome weekend!

#ThrowbackThursday Catherine Bybee at RT

It’s always fun to meet your online buddies up close and personal. Catherine and I became friends by starting a conversation on the Internet. We started chatting and exchanging ideas. Catherine was awesome and even hosted a video chat with me. It was really exciting for me to get to meet her face-to-face at a convention and I’m so proud and excited for her at how well her career has taken off!

#WriteWed Military Heroes Inspire Me

As you might now, I’ve included a number of military heroes in my books from my early romantic suspense novels to my latest releases in the Take a Chance series. That includes both military men and women heroes.

In each of the stories, I try to bring out what it must be like for our military heroes and their families as they cope with being away, being at war and coming home. I’m honored to say that I’ve heard from a number of military people that they felt my portrayals of the issues were accurate and heartfelt. Thank you for that and thank you for your service and sacrifices.

I want to share this video of truly awesome surprise military reunions! Click here to watch the military reunion video if you can’t see it below.
