DIE FOR LOVE Release Day & #ManCandyMonday

DIE FOR LOVEDIE FOR LOVE is finally here! This is the climactic finish of the story arc for Diana and Ryder and an action-packed romance with dhampir Slayer Michaela Ramirez and FBI Assistant Director in Charge Jesus Hernandez. You may remember them from HONOR CALLS and now you’ll get to see their entire story.

I’m very excited about all that goes on in this book and what it sets up for future books in the series. Many of you have been asking and yes, there will be more books. I’ll shortly be at work on VAMPIRE REBORN which will be a novella centered around Ryder and all the changes with which he’s dealing. Hopefully that will be available in March of 2014. That will be followed by FIGHT FOR LOVE which will add more to the Diana and Ryder relationship, but also explore the workings of the Slayer council and the source of their power.

Many of you have also asked if Foley will ever get his story and the answer is a also a big yes! I just have to find the right woman for this very interesting and unique character.

Here is the teaser for DIE FOR LOVE.

Loving a dead man can be brutal.

Diana Reye’s pregnancy is draining her of life. Now she and vampire Ryder Latimer are faced with the most difficult choice of all. Turn Diana, or lose her and the baby. If Ryder chooses to save them, he risks the wrath of the Slayer Council and will be marked for his own death by their friend Michaela.
Chasing a vampire can be consuming.

FBI agent Michaela Ramirez has been searching for the vampire who raped and killed her mother while acting as an enforcer for the Slayer Council. Since meeting FBI Director Jesus Hernandez , however, Michaela is losing a bit of her edge as she imagines the possibility of a life full of happiness and passion with her handsome boss by her side…and in her bed.

Living without the one they love isn’t an option.

But soon trouble comes calling as the vampire she hunts makes Michaela his prey. Now Michaela finds herself in a battle not only for her own life, but for her friends lives as well, as she and Ryder both make the difficult decision to break all the rules for love.

And now it’s time for Man Candy Monday! People always ask who I would picture as the various characters if I was ever lucky enough to have THE REBORN/CALLING series picked up for a movie or television show. It’s always been tough for me to picture who would play Diana and Ryder, although Tyler Hoechlin would be high on the list to be Ryder.

But today’s Man Candy is all about who I would picture as ADIC Jesus Hernandez and that’s a much easier choice: Bobby Cannavale!

Bobby first caught my eye on Third Watch where he played an EMT. He’s a Jersey Boy from Union City and is half-Cuban half-Italian. In 2013, Bobby won an Emmy for his role on Boardwalk Empire. Bobby has been in a number of movies and television shows and I could totally see him playing the rough, but sensitive, FBI Director who has to deal with the very kickass and hard-edged dhampir Michaela.

What do you think?

TORI GOT LUCKY #FridayRead

There are few things more exciting than “The Call” from the editor saying that they want to buy your book.

But having your agent call to say that your book is going to auction because more than one publisher wants was just as exciting! Also nerve-wracking as we waited to hear from the various publishers what their offers would be.

That book that went to auction was TORI GOT LUCKY which was released under a name that shall not be mentioned because I truly did not like it.

My idea for TORI GOT LUCKY was that it would be a story about four friends and a surprise change in their lives that disrupts the close friendship between the women.

That break from each other allows each of them to truly explore what’s important in their lives and allows them to open themselves to various changes. Each of the women will confront family issues and their love lives. Each faces adversity of a different kind as the story progresses.

In the end, Tori and her friends will find new places with the men in their lives, their families and with each other.

So today’s Friday Read is an excerpt from TORI GOT LUCKY. In this scene, Tori and her lover Gil are breaking the news to Tori’s family about their upcoming wedding. It’s her family’s reaction that sets in motion the surprise that will challenge the friendship of all the women.

The Wonders Around You

Every year we head up to Union City to pick up an assortment of items for the Cuban half of our Christmas Eve.

We always detour out of our way to go through Weehawken and see the amazing views of New York City. It was pretty atmospheric this year with a lot of fog due to unseasonably warm weather. You can see the fog in this photo as it rolls along the river.

We’ve been making this trip for over 25 years and in all that time we never took the time to make a quick right and see what else was on this road.

We discovered that the little strip of road to the right was just above the Dueling Grounds and the spot of the famous Aaron Burr-Alexander Hamilton duel. Burr was the Vice President at the time and Hamilton was a General. The duel was said to have come about because of Hamilton’s comments about Burr during the New York Gubernatorial race. Hamilton was mortally wounded during the duel and died the next day in Manhattan. Burr was indicted for murder in both NY and NJ, but nothing ever happened with the charges. Burr even served out his term as Vice President.

I guess what I’m saying, in a very long roundabout way, is that there are lots of things around you, lots of wonders, that you never know about or even explore. I think from now on, I’ll take a little more time to stop and check them out!

What’s up with me! TORI GOT LUCKY Cover Reveal

I’m sorry I’ve been silent the last few days, but I’ve been home due to a minor illness and trying to juggle a number of things! I hope to be back with you on Monday, December 23 before taking a few days for the holidays and to get ready for a new release on Christmas Day!

Well, I hope I can get it released. I’m pushing right now to have it ready as an e-book with the print copy to follow within the week.

Which book is it? Well, it’s a re-release of a book originally released by Simon & Schuster. I’m giving it my original title, TORI GOT LUCKY. I’ve also done some editing and made some changes so that the book is more like I envisioned it when I first wrote it. I hope you’ll like the changes to this story about four friends and what happens when one of them decides to elope and upsets the entire balance of their relationship.

So here goes! The cover for TORI GOT LUCKY. What do you think?

Tortilla Soup #Recipe

With the winter chill and snow, there is nothing better than a nice hot bowl of soup to chase away the chill! I love Mexican food, so this is my little take on tortilla soup. This soup is relatively east except for possibly the shredded cooked chicken, but there are two ways to get that. The first is to buy a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken from your local store. The second is to place the chicken in your slow cooker/oven with Rotel and cook for about two hours. If you don’t have chicken broth, well just cook your chicken breasts together with some carrots, celery and onions to make the broth. Once they chicken breasts are tender, they’ll be perfect for shredding at that point!

Ingredients

1/2 cup onion
2 chopped garlic cloves
1/2 cup red pepper chopped
1/2 cup green pepper chopped
1/3 cup olive oil
4 cups chicken broth
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can ROTEL
1 spoonful tomato paste
2 cups shredded chicken
Cumin
Chile Powder
Bay leaf
Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions

Place olive oil in a sauce pot. Saute onions, peppers and garlic in the oil.

Add the cumin and chili powder and just toast them for a moment to release the flavors. Then add the drained black beans, chicken, Rotel and spoonful of tomato paste. Give a few stirs to break up the tomato paste and add the chicken broth and bay leaf. Stir and cook for about 30 to 45 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

Place in bowls and top with sliced avocado, strips of baked/fried corn tortillas, cilantro, cheddar cheese and a wedge of lime!

You’ll love this! To make it spicier, use a poblano chile instead of the red pepper or add a shot or two of your favorite hot sauce.

#ManCandyMonday Stephen Amell from The Arrow

I’ve only caught The Arrow a few times and I am kicking myself. All my friends say it’s awesome. Could part of it be the sexy lead, Stephen Amell?

Amell is a Canadian actor who has appeared in quite a number of shows, including New Girl and Private Practice, as well as a number of movies.

Hope you enjoy today’s Man Candy!
