Thursday Thirteen – Last days of summer & giveaways

It’s hard to believe that Labor Day is this weekend, marking the unofficial end of summer.

I LIVE for the summer. It’s my favorite time of year for lots of reasons. I love to be outdoors so I can walk on the boardwalk, garden, dip my toes in the ocean and hang out on the beach beneath the umbrella, catching up on my To-Be-Read pile.

I also love summer because of the different foods that are available and that I prepare for the hotter days!

So today’s Thursday 13 is a list of my favorite summer foods, in reverse because I’m going to share my top 3 today at the Forever Romance Summer Reading Club! Please drop by from 12 to 2 EST today to chat with me, ask some questions and maybe even get a recipe for one of my favorites! We’ll also have a giveaway today during the chat.

Wicked Wednesday – THE FIFTH KINGDOM

I’m so excited to be sharing with you THE FIFTH KINGDOM today, my romantic suspense from Carina Press. RT Book Reviews gave it 4.5 stars and said:

“This story is an Indiana Jones-style thrill ride infused with just the right amount of romance and sexual tension…The mystery, the family dynamic and the love story all blend together perfectly in this delightful adventure. Who needs Harrison Ford when you’ve got a tale like this?”

THE FIFTH KINGDOM Romantic Suspense

To Blog or Not to Blog…

That is the question. Sometimes it’s damn hard to find something to write about or in which you might be interested. It’s not a problem uncommon to bloggers who regularly write.

I even found an interesting article about IBM’s Blog Muse which helps bloggers get past blogger’s block.

Unfortunately, I understand the system is not readily available to all bloggers. 🙁

That means the rest of us will still have to decide whether to blog and what to blog about. Which leads to this question:

What would you like to see me blog about?!

I know you love those luscious men on Wednesdays and the excerpts from myself and friends on Wednesdays, but what about the rest of the time? What things would you like to see?

Guilty Pleasure Monday – John Schneider

First of all, many thanks to all who sent their wishes for a safe passage of Hurricane Irene. My town was spared much damage and we are in relatively good shape. No bus or rail service from this area, so hoping it is back up and running tomorrow.

Also hope that all those without power get it back real soon! I’ve got just a few pictures of some minor damage in my area and my flooded yard at the Facebook Fan Page.

Anyway, the enforced stay-at-home had me doing some writing and watching some television. One program about celebrity ghost encounters caught my eye as did John Schneider who was on the show. He was talking about a three-year old brother who died before he was born, but with whom he had a rather odd connection.

Even at 51, John looked really good and his story was interesting. I did some other checking in on John, who became a household name playing Bo on DUKES OF HAZZARD. Turns out that John is also one of the co-founders of the Children’s Miracle Network.

John has been doing a lot of work lately, with appearances on SMALLVILLE and HOT IN CLEVELAND. So here goes with this morning’s Guilty Pleasure John Schneider!

Weekend Weather Coming!

Best Tweet about what’s been happening:

“@EamonDolan Once again, this weekend’s weather forecast is brought to you by the Book of Revelations.”

I don’t know about you, but we are hunkering down for weekend storms. I hope those of you already feeling the bite of Hurricane Irene are safe and sound. Please don’t take any chances out there.

We’ve got some fun new things happening in the review community – Dual Reviewers dishing about books. So today I’m sharing with you two of those fun couples:

Morgan and Whitney Dish

Check out Morgan and Whitney dishing about THE FIFTH KINGDOM!

Also any thanks to RT Book Reviews for giving THE FIFTH KINGDOM 4.5 Stars! You rock!

Here is just a little snippet of what they had to say:

This story is an Indiana Jones-style thrill ride infused with just the right amount of romance and sexual tension. . .The mystery, the family dynamic and the love story all blend together perfectly in this delightful adventure. Who needs Harrison Ford when you’ve got a tale like this?

OBSESSED/LOST Launch Party at Fontana’s

I got to see Morgan last night at the absolutely wonderful launch party for OBSESSED and THE LOST. Hope to have pictures for you soon from that event and thanks to all who came by and also, mega thanks to Rachel Kramer Bussel, The Pleasure Chest and Tied Up Events for hosting this fabulous party!

Also many thanks to Maria, Kim, Denise, Diane and Nisha for coming with to the party.

I Felt the Earth Move Under My Feet…

And wow was it a scary feeling. It started as a rumble, kind of like a subway car beneath my feet, only I’m on the 10th floor, so it was no subway!

Then the building swayed back and forth. Like someone had pushed it and now it was recoiling back into place.

Being in New York and with the wounds of 9/11 still not healed, my first thought was – attack.

Then when we realized what had happened, slightly less panic. Just a little less. I mean, the “small” earthquake moved a 40+ story building.

I know those out on the West Coast are sniggling at us wussie Easterners. They probably sleep right through earthquakes like this one. But not us New Yorkers! We’re the city that never sleeps, right?

Anyway, my friend and fellow author Keirsten Krum has offered up her views on our little tremblor and also rounded up some of the best tweets from Twitter. Do not miss this blog post, but be warned, you may spew your coffee all over your keyboard.

Have a great and bedrock stable day.
