Picture this (said in your best Golden Girls Sophia voice): You’re on a cruise in paradise when suddenly the boat starts to sink. You’ve got only seconds to grab 3 things, rush to the lifeboat, and row to a nearby deserted island. I’d grab my laptop and hope the island had wifi (silly I know), my cat Slate, and coffee (because I could read books on my computer). What would you grab? P.S. If you’d grab a book, how about ESCAPE THE EVERGLADES that comes out tomorrow! You can snag your copy at https://amzn.to/3VEUDYQ.

My New Garden Project
The last few weeks have been hectic with spring gardening, preparing for the new grandbaby, and finishing the first book in the new South Beach Security Colorado K-9 (tentative) series. The tentative title is RESCUE IN REGINA and it revisits the characters in COLD CASE REOPENED which is the first book where you meet Sophie and Robbie Whitaker, cousins who work with SBS in Miami. But now I need a little break before starting on the second book in the series as well as a new women’s fiction book that’s been percolating in my head. What’s the break? A new garden project! When one of my neighbors asked if we could switch out our bench for some new chairs, I realized it was the perfect opportunity to play with the bench since it was due for a refurbish. I’m busy painting the wood as well as giving the back panel some zing. What do you think? P.S. – If you love women’s fiction/romance of books, you can read the first 10 chapters of SUNSHINE AFTER RAIN for free on Kindle Vella. Start your journey into this story about three women learning to embrace life and love once more at https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella/story/B0CNZP5CD2.

My Garden is My Happy Place
My garden is my happy place. I love getting my fingers in the soil and planting things. Watching them grow. It’s been a good year in the garden so far. Things are starting to blossom and I have peppers, tomatoes, and eggplants set and can’t wait to eat them. We’ve already harvested tons of basil and even shared some with neighbors! Today I’m sharing photos of some of my early blooms and a swallowtail caterpillar that’s come to munch on the parsley. I love seeing them in the garden because it means I’ll have butterflies in a few weeks. You may notice that I have many bell-shaped or flat petal flowers. That’s because I want to support and encourage pollinators. That will hopefully improve how many vegetable flowers actually become fruits. I know many of you have gardens. Take a moment to share some photos of your happy place! P.S. – Chefs love having fresh herbs and veggies from their gardens and if you love books with chefs and romance, SOUTH BEACH LOVE is specially priced at 99 cents for a limited time. Tuesday Takeover with Shana Gray
I’m very excited to have fellow Harlequin author Shana Gray with me today! Shana is sharing a little bit about herself and a tasty chicken recipe and if you like recipes also, please visit my Cook’s Treat section on the website. Please welcome Shana!

I’m thrilled to be here! Thank you, Caridad, for the invite.
I don’t know about you all, but I simply cannot believe how fast the time has flown by. It’s the middle of June and I swear the time clock has been wound up.
Here I am sitting in my gazebo (my oasis in the summer) surrounded by flowers, the trickle of a water fountain, and birds singing. My garden isn’t large, but it’s cozy. I like a wilder bee, hummingbird and butterfly friendly style of garden. About 14 years ago I planted a little maple tree and now it is glorious! Shades half of my garden, and lovely to sit under. Do you like to garden?
Am I a new-to-you author?
How about a little something about me ? I’m Shana Gray, and I live in a small town just outside Toronto. I’ve been writing, and telling stories most of my life. I’ve been published for fourteen years in contemporary romance, rom com, romantic suspense, er*tic romance, with various smaller presses in the earlier years and then Harlequin, Random House Loveswept, Headline Eternal Romance (Hachette UK) and Entangled. Also I write womens fiction as Catherine Hope, with a first book last year titled The Last Message.
My books are wide, available at all retailers, with a couple in KU. They are also available in Audio.
Do you like series? I have two! Girls Weekend Away, four books titled What Happens in Vegas, Meet Me in San Francisco, The Nashville Bet, A Match Made in Monaco. My second series is Get it On, currently with three books and more to come – these are my er*tic romance books.
If standalones are your preference take a look at Backdraft, Working Girl, The Road Home, and my Harlequin Blaze books More than a Fling, A Cowboy in Paradise. Both books are set in Hawaii. Working Girl is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch. To see more of my books head over to my bookshelf.
I’d be thrilled if you joined my newsletter, you get a free download too! And my FB group Shana’s Shananigators We share fun stuff, games, recipes and beside my newsletter they’re the first to hear all the news.
Speaking of recipes. I’m a hoarder. I have so many in my folders, saved in apps, and written down I doubt I could ever cook them all!
This dish goes well anytime of year and is so tasty!
Cheesy Mustard Chicken
2 lb chicken pieces skinned
1/2 c low fat yogurt
1/3 c light mayo
1/4 c sliced green onion
1T Dijon mustard
1T Worcestershire sauce
1/2 t thyme
1/2 t pepper
2T parm or mozz cheese
Place chicken in single layer in greased casserole or use parchment paper.
Combine all ingredients except cheese and spoon over chicken.
Bake 350 for about 45 minutes
Sprinkle with cheese and brown under broiler
I also have sourdough starter that I feed and use. It was on sleep mode for the last few months because of everything else that was going on. The other day I fed and watered the beast and it came alive with a roar!
I was wondering how you keep track of books you’ve read, your TBR, and reviews? I created a Reading Journal where you can keep track of all that, as well as your wish list, series tracker, monthly/yearly book tracker, DNFs, colouring pages, and more. It’s available on Amazon only, because everywhere else gave me a huge headache on turning it into a large format paperback. So the feedback is very positive. It certainly was a labour of love! Take a look and see if it could work for you at https://amzn.to/4c2KxYF.
I’ll be popping in throughout the day to check for comments and chat. Don’t be shy, say hi!
Hard or Soft Tacos?
I’ve been lucky to have visited Mexico dozens of times for work and experience its wonderful culture, people, and food. In my Jersey Shore area, we have quite a number of Mexican restaurants. My new love is tacos birrias which are tacos that you can dunk in a flavorful liquid made from cooking the beef for the tacos. Birrias are made with soft tacos but I have to confess that I like hard tacos better. What about you? Hard or soft tacos? P.S. – If you’d love to read stories set in Mexico that were inspired by some of my trips, grab a copy of AZTEC GOLD or THE FIFTH KINDGOM. Both are specially priced at 1.99 and 99 cents at https://amzn.to/3Xsh7z4 and https://amzn.to/4cmK2su.
