Behind the Scenes THE REBORN #Vampire Series & More!

So much going on today, but first . . .

One of the reasons for choosing New York City as the location for THE REBORN (formerly THE CALLING) series was to share a city that I love and that I’ve spent so much time exploring! There are so many amazing things to see and of course, sometimes odd or unique things. When you’re rushing to work, you sometimes don’t stop to smell the roses, but this morning I did and snapped off some photos of some of the things I pass and which have caught me eye.

The top photo is of a plaque located in the side of what is now the HSBC Building right across from the library. It commemorates that this was originally the spot of the Wendel family home. It’s easy to forget that many of the smaller buildings along Fifth Avenue and elsewhere in Midtown were once residences where people lived.

The next three shots are of Library Way which runs from Fifth Avenue to Park Avenue along 41st and right in front of the main NYC Research Library on Fifth. Yep, the one with the big lions, Constance and Fortitude, in the front.

There are plaques every couple of feet with quotes about reading, writing and literature along both sides of the street.

I’ll be sharing lots more on some of my interesting and favorite NYC spots, but also about locations that you’ll be seeing in THE REBORN vampire novel books. Places like Central Park which looks all lovely and gleaming like in this photo that I took of the Turtle Pond, but which becomes a quite scarier place when you’re either tracking down a rogue slayer, vampire or shifter like in the upcoming books in the series.

And now for what else is up! BLOG TOUR!! Yep, come and find out more and share your thoughts on the various blogs I’ll be visiting to celebrate the release of TO LOVE AND SERVE, Diana and Ryder’s first story in THE REBORN series.

#ManCandyMonday Mike Matheny #WorldSeries #Baseball

My Mets are out of it and normally I root for the National League team, but I just can’t this year. Sorry guys, but I want the Red Sox to win.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped me from appreciating sexy Mike Matheny, former Cardinals catcher, now the manager of the team. He is the youngest manager in baseball and led the Cardinals to the post-season in both his years as the manager.

Mike is no slouch as a catcher with 4 Golden Gloves and is one of only three catchers to go 100 games without committing an error.

Not an easy position to play between having to know the pitcher’s strengths and hitters weaknesses. Plus, hard on the body. I played catcher for my high school softball team and it was rough. Way rough. That’s why I switched to tennis in my junior year. LOL! Still love playing, though, so if anyone is up for a pick-up game, let me know!

Fun Friday #Monster Mash by Bobby Pickett

It’s almost Halloween, a favorite time for paranormal romance writers like me!

I’ve done some decorating of the front porch and am considering what, if anything, to wear for the holiday. Should I be a vampire or werewolf? Go all geeky with my red Star Trek uniform? Yep, I do own one. Sigh.

To help you start to get into the Halloween mood, here’s one of my favorites done by the original artist live on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Pre-MTV all glitz and glamour, but still fun, I think.

Thanks to NRR Arcchives for preserving this oldie but goody!

TO LOVE AND SERVE #Free Read & Behind the Scenes

As you can imagine, it’s a crazy year for me with back-to-back releases of THE CALLING/REBORN vampire novel series coming out every month through December.

The October 28th release is TO LOVE AND SERVE and it’s a very special book for me. For many years I’ve been wanting to take this series in a different direction and I’ve finally been able to do that with these upcoming books.

What does that mean? Well, you’ll see lots of familiar vampires and humans from over the years who will form a core group that Diana and Ryder can rely on. Many of you have asked if we’ll see more of Helene and Miguel from FOR LOVE OR VENGEANCE and the answer is: YES. Not in the next three books, but I’m currently working on a novella for two new characters and plotting future books and I can tell you that Helene and Miguel will be back.

You’ll see lots more of Diana and Ryder in the next three books and the wild ride that is going to happen in their lives. It’s exciting, dangerous, emotional, loving and so much more. It’s all I’ve ever wanted for them since they came to life in DARKNESS CALLS and faced death in DEATH CALLS.

For those of you who are new to the series, don’t worry. These books will be standalone, but you’ll get to meet some interesting characters and I hope you’ll want to go back and read their stories.

What else is coming in these books? Well, more about my favorite city, New York. You’ll get to visit some fabulous locations, like Central Park, the old City Hall subway stop, and the trolley station near the Williamsburg Bridge. In future books, I’m going to add even more of the locations that I love, like Bryant Park and the lesser known areas of Grand Central Terminal.

I snapped some photos of them for you this morning! I love the morning in New York City. It’s alive and yet peaceful as well. There are some interesting areas all over, but especially in Grand Central Terminal. One of these is a shot of the Northwest Passage where you can walk for blocks below ground. Another is of the passage that leads down to what is now a food court and the Oyster Bar restaurant. If you stand in opposite corners under the vaulted ceiling, face the walls and whisper, the person across from you can hear you because of the acoustics.

There will be lots more fun NYC things in future books as well as lots of action, suspense, emotion and of course, love and romance.

I hope you’ll enjoy taking this ride with me!

#ManCandyMonday Tom Brady

I’m a Jets/Giants fan, leaning more toward the Jets since I grew up on Long Island and used to see them practicing at Hofstra University. My parents were rabid Giants fans and even had Y.A. Title autograph a book for them.

Despite that, it’s hard not to acknowledge that Tom Brady is one hot guy. Seriously. And a competitor. Gotta love that.

Thanks to Tom Brady’s Fan Page for letting us share this photo! Go and like him, too!
