THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE Free Read

I am pleased to say that THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE is now available at B&N! You can click here to buy it.

I am also happy to share with you an excerpt from this new romantic suspense. In this scene FBI Agent Kathleen Martinez has tracked down a white slavery ring to a warehouse in Manhattan. Unfortunately, the lawyers for the warehouse owners – the Ivanov family – have been stonewalling their entry into the building.

I hope you’ll enjoy this scene and when you’re done, you’ll understand why Kathleen is less than enthusiastic about helping Prince Alexander, scion of the Ivanov family, when he’s got a problem at his new casino in Atlantic City.

THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE #Sandy Campaign for the #Jersey #Shore

My friends know better than to double dog dare me! Nearly three years ago I took a trip to Las Vegas to do a writing weekend with friends. I was in between projects and wanting to work on a new romantic suspense, I just needed an idea for it.

The time with my friends was wonderful. We talked books, ate books, lived and breathed and dreamed books. Always a great time, but especially with these dear friends. Of course, we did squeeze in time to take in the sights of Las Vegas, have a nice dinner, see a show and spend a relaxing day at the spa.

As we went from place to place, ideas started taking hold in my brain, but they didn’t gel until my friends double-dog dared me when I said that I could take all our experiences and work them into a book.

THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE was the result of that dare, but being a Jersey girl, I knew I had to set the prince’s casino in Atlantic City. Of course, then Hurricane Sandy came along, causing so much damage to not only Atlantic City, but my beloved Jersey Shore.

I’ve shared some images of that damage on my Facebook fan page.

I’ve always been a person who believed that if you weren’t part of the solution, you were part of the problem. Because I don’t want to be part of the problem, I decided that I was going to be part of the solution by helping out to restore the shore that I love so much.

In order to do that, I’m going to be donating my share of the proceeds from sales of THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE from now until March 1, 2013 to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.

THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE is now available for sale at Amazon and should be available for sale shortly at B&N.

#ManCandyMonday LA Rams’ Danny Amendola

Can you tell it’s football season in my house? LOL! Of course, I think you knew I loved football when I made Jesse Bradford from STRONGER THAN SIN a football player.

Today’s Man Candy Monday is LA RAMS wide receiver Danny Amendola. Danny caught my eye in this week’s game and I had to share him with you today! Danny was originally signed by the Cowboys and then spent some time with the Eagles. He’s now playing with the Rams and have a good season. Entering Week 5, Amendola was second in the NFL for receptions, amazing considering he suffered a freak collarbone injury which might have killed him.

At 5’10”, 185 pounds, Danny is a lean, mean catching machine. I could just picture him playing Jesse Bradford in a movie (although Jesse was a few inches taller).

Hope you enjoy today’s Man Candy Monday.

Wicked Wednesday – How Wicked Do You Like it?

Diana Reyes, FBI AgentToday’s Wicked Wednesday is going to be a little different. Today we’re going to chat about just how wicked you like your stories!

As you may know, I’ve recently done some erotic romance for the Nocturne Cravings line. I include the word “romance” in there because for me the story has to have an emotional arc that involves the characters coming to care about one another.

All the Cravings novellas have had some more intense, slightly wicked things going on. Toys, bondage and other edgy happenings. One of the stories, HER VAMPIRE LOVER, is more about the foreplay leading up to the lovemaking. The anticipation which makes the fulfillment all that more exciting.

Now, I know some of you don’t like the really sexy stuff while others do. I’d love to hear from you about what you like. Whether you think there are things that just go to far.

Although I have not read the book about a BDSM relationship that shall not be named on this blog unless you wish to get a remote butt slap, I don’t think I’d be a fan of anything where a woman needs to be the submissive. Not my thing as you can tell from my many kick-butt heroines.

So, what is the line you don’t like to see crossed in your sexy romance novels? Do you think we’re going a little too far? I’d love to hear from you today!

#ManCandyMonday Atlanta Falcon Tony Gonzalez

On this Man Candy Monday congrats to tight end Tony Gonzalez of the Atlanta Falcons on making his 101st career touchdown catch. So sorry that you guys lost. I was really hoping you’d make it to the playoffs with an undefeated season!

Tony is a twelve-time Pro Bowler, holds the record for most touchdowns in a season and has career highs in both the number of touchdowns and reception yards. Tony is certain to be a Hall of Famer, but has yet to play in a playoff game. Here’s hoping you make it this year, especially with that winning smile!

On another note, Coach Ryan, when will you pull Sanchez and give Tebow a real chance? What have you got to lose? You’re already 3 and 6 and have lost 4 of your last 5 games. If you don’t want to put Tim in at quarterback, how about using him as some other kind of back. He’s big and strong and he’s got heart.

As Jimmy McGinty says in THE REPLACEMENTS, you need “miles and miles of heart” to win. Shane Falco understood, hopefully you will as well Coach Ryan.

Thankful for My Blessings!

I want to thank all of you who have reached out to me publicly and privately. As some may know, I was away in South Carolina while the storm hit New Jersey and it was nerve-wracking to be away from family and friends at such a critical time. Luckily I was able to arrive at home only a day late and brought with me electricity, cable and the Internet. Or at least that’s the way it seemed.

I was blessed that my home suffered no damage, but my thoughts and prayers are with my neighbors who had trees in their homes and for my many friends still without power.

My daughter’s new shop in Ocean Grove was also spared and for that we are truly grateful. There was some damage to nearby Bradley Beach and flooding in some areas. The dunes took the brunt of the hit and are now gone. Flattened, but they did their job and protected so many.

Most of the pier in Ocean Grove is gone and the boardwalk looks like a roller coaster ride with the boards all up and down in what looks like an ocean wave. On Saturday when my daughter and I went down to check things out, members of the community were out there collecting debris and shoveling sand out of the beachfront pavilion. My heart was gladdened by that sight of people working together peacefully and my daughter and I helped carry some of the debris to a nearby Dumpster.

The Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove sustained damage and we’re hoping to find out how we can help fix this unique and historical building that is such a gathering place for people from all over this area.

All around the Jersey Shore people are helping others. Giving them rides, finding unused clothing and necessary items to donate. Helping clean up the mess left behind. It gives me hope to see such actions.

Some of you may remember that my next release, THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE, is set in Atlantic City. My heart was heavy as I saw the sights from AC, Seaside Heights, Brigantine, and other familiar towns, devastated by the storm. After discussions with my editor at Entangled, we decided that it was appropriate to write Hurricane Sandy into the book. I did so and with what I hope will be seen as a message of hopefulness.

New Jersey will rebuild. Bigger. Better. Stronger.

To help with that, I am donating my share of the royalties for the book to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. My publisher, Entangled Publishing, and editors are now feverishly working to try and keep to the November 10 publication date for THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE. As soon as the book is available, I will let you know!

Thanks again for all your well wishes, thoughts and prayers. Your kindness means the world to me.

As you can imagine, I am a little behind with e-mail messages, the blog tour, etc., but I will be catching up in the next week, announcing winners, etc.

Here’s a picture of what the Ocean Grove Pier used to look like. There is less than half of it left standing.
