Fun Calendar Facts

It’s that time every fourth February, namely LEAP YEAR! Why do we even have a leap year? Turns out that it takes more than 365 days for the earth to circle the sun and to make up for that extra time it’s necessary to add one day every four years. Weird right?

What about other calendars like the Aztec calendar I mention in The Fifth Kingdom? The sun stone used by the Aztecs consists of a central image of what some scholars believe is a sun god. The four sections around the sun god represent the four kingdoms of the Aztecs. Each kingdom was supposedly destroyed by a cataclysmic event, namely, monsters, hurricane winds, a rain of fire, and floods.

It’s possible that the arrival of the Spaniards, who might have been mistaken for the return of an exiled god, signaled the start of the fifth kingdom of the Aztecs and their ultimate destruction.

Just some fun facts on this February 29th! P.S. – The Fifth Kingdom is FREE on Kindle Unlimited and specially priced at 99 cents!

Free Read Deadly Chase

It was very exciting when Harlequin asked me to write a novella to introduce the characters in the K-9s on Patrol series (all books are standalone). I mulled over who would be the K-9 hero and decided it would be Lily, my grand fur baby! LOL! She’s such a bundle of energy but so loving and protective. In Deadly Chase, a K-9 officer and a DEA agent join forces to combat a deadly enemy and confront their own complicated past. You’ll get to meet Alex and Miriam, the two law enforcement heroes in this story and of course, Lily! Read Deadly Chase for FREE at https://bit.ly/DeadlyChaseFreeRead. If you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, you can also read Decoy Training for FREE on Kindle Unlimited at https://amzn.to/3tMnwIP.

Behind the Scenes of South Beach Love

As an author you have a number of things on your bucket list and I don’t think I know even one author who doesn’t want to see one of their books as a movie. I’m luckier than most authors in that I got to see that happen with Hallmark decided to turn South Beach Love into one of their Hallmark Original Movies! WOW! It was so so exciting to get that call and then the one that followed which said we’d be able to visit the movie set to watch the filming. Unfortunately, because it was during COVID, I didn’t get to do a walk-on as some authors were able to do. In addition, there were intense COVID protocols that we had to follow, but still, it was AMAZING. The director, film crew, and cast were so nice and we loved being able to see how things work behind the scenes. It was also so nice to meet the actors and actresses who were playing the various characters in the books. Today I’m sharing some photos from the filming and if you haven’t had a chance to read the book, there’s good news for you! It’s now available for FREE on Kindle Unlimited or specially priced at 99 cents for a limited time. You can download it at https://amzn.to/48xDjKD.
