I was on the road yesterday to Easton, PA to have dinner with some friends and see my buddy Brenda Novak! It’s been ages since we’ve been able to spend some time on account of the pandemic. I love writing stories about military heroes because I love to see them get their happily-ever-afters. The hero in Decoy Training, Shane Adler, is a Marine who was wounded in Afghanistan and is forced to leave the military due to his injuries. Trying to rebuild his life, Shane heads off to visit a friend with Decoy, a dog Shane had befriended overseas and who saved his life when Shane was trapped beneath the rubble of a building destroyed by an IED. Shane’s visit to his friend inspires Shane to consider a new life as part of a K-9 rescue group, but to do that, Shane has to train Decoy. That’s where Piper Lambert comes into the picture. Piper is a highly regarded dog trainer whose Army husband was killed in battle. She’s not looking for love and involvement, but Shane is just too hard to resist. This is how I picture Shane after he finds his happily-ever-after with Piper, Piper’s pup Chipper, and Decoy!
