There’s still hope for America

I only watched part of the game last night because the BURN NOTICE finale was on, but now I’m sorry I missed what looked to be an incredibly patriotic moment. For a taste of it, check out this clip of the flyover of 4 F16s by the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard. If you can’t see the clip, you can cut and paste this link into your browser:

Also click on this link to see the pictures of the Green Bay Packers crowd getting patriotic with an immense stadium-wide flag.

As the writer of that piece noted, it gave him goosebumps and I second that. It makes me believe that there is still hope for America. That there are still people who love it and the values for which it stands.

I know I do. America has given me everything and because of that I bleed red, white and blue. Some may criticize acts like this flyover and flag, as well as my extreme patriotism, as jingoism.

But the facts of my life only reaffirm for me the true meaning of America and the values which we should hold dear and reinforce to our children. I truly believe that keeping these American values are what will keep our Nation great.

What values? Well, here goes…

Success is the reward of hard work and no one should be ashamed of success.

You should not covet what your neighbor has, but strive to find your own path to what you want.

The most important things are not things.

You should respect the right of others to have different opinions, much as they should respect that you may have different opinions.

To quote John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”

Pay it forward. If you’re successful, become one of those “Thousand points of light” that the first Mr. Bush mentioned.

Respect our Nation, the flag and our military. We would not be free without the sacrifices of the men, women and families of our military.

I leave you with those thoughts on the eve of the 10th Anniversary of 9-11.

God Bless America.

Fun Friday – Double Fun Today!

I want to thank Rebecca Sinclair for sharing this fun photo for today which begs the question, “Is there such a thing as a simple cat?” I’ve had a few cats in my life and the last way I’d describe them is “simple.”

Our second Fun Friday treat comes from the wonderful editors at Forever Romance. If you haven’t liked them yet on Facebook, please do so! They are always sharing lots of interesting things and holding giveaways.

Thanks to Selina and Laura who found this fun “What Color is your Aura?” quiz, especially since auras are so prevalent in THE LOST. I took the quiz and had a blue aura (Yeah, like Adam!). What’s the color of your aura?

Share your aura color or cat stories today in the comments! I hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend. Stay safe!

Weekend Weather Coming!

Best Tweet about what’s been happening:

“@EamonDolan Once again, this weekend’s weather forecast is brought to you by the Book of Revelations.”

I don’t know about you, but we are hunkering down for weekend storms. I hope those of you already feeling the bite of Hurricane Irene are safe and sound. Please don’t take any chances out there.

We’ve got some fun new things happening in the review community – Dual Reviewers dishing about books. So today I’m sharing with you two of those fun couples:

Morgan and Whitney Dish

Check out Morgan and Whitney dishing about THE FIFTH KINGDOM!

Also any thanks to RT Book Reviews for giving THE FIFTH KINGDOM 4.5 Stars! You rock!

Here is just a little snippet of what they had to say:

This story is an Indiana Jones-style thrill ride infused with just the right amount of romance and sexual tension. . .The mystery, the family dynamic and the love story all blend together perfectly in this delightful adventure. Who needs Harrison Ford when you’ve got a tale like this?

She Said, She Said at Paranormal Romance Guild

For you paranormal writers and readers, you have got to check out the Paranormal Romance Guild! They have got a whole host of things for you to check out.

Their reviewers, Gloria and Penelope, were nice enough to do a She Said, She Said review of THE LOST.

Thank you for your 4.5 and 4 stars for THE LOST! To read what Gloria and Penelope have to say, you can click here.

OBSESSED/LOST Launch Party at Fontana’s

I got to see Morgan last night at the absolutely wonderful launch party for OBSESSED and THE LOST. Hope to have pictures for you soon from that event and thanks to all who came by and also, mega thanks to Rachel Kramer Bussel, The Pleasure Chest and Tied Up Events for hosting this fabulous party!

Also many thanks to Maria, Kim, Denise, Diane and Nisha for coming with to the party.

Fun Friday -Will & Kate & Bachelor Parties

Thanks for yesterday! I spent the morning at IKEA finding new furniture for my child and then spent another seven (7!!!) hours assembling it. Needless to say, I am sore this morning and needing a little fun.

That’s why I am sharing Episode 3 of the very Funny or Die spoof on Will & Kate called “Will & Kate Before Happily Ever After”. There are actually 4 episodes, but I found this one kind of hysterical as Kate discusses the need for penis-shaped things at “hen” parties. Visit funnyordie.com for the remainder of the series.

Here goes and I hope you’ll all have a great weekend. If you can’t see the video below, you can click here:

Will & Kate: Before Happily Ever After (Ep.3) from Allison Williams

Hot in Here!

Is the weather hot or was it Diane’s sizzling excerpt? Whew, I don’t know, but just in case it’s the weather, I’m offering up my version of a Public Service Announcement for you as we head into the weekend.

Stay indoors and out of the heat. I know you want to be weekend warrior, jog, garden or any of those other things, but with the heat as bad as it is, you risk heat stroke.

Drink lots and lots of water. Staying hydrated helps your body maintain its right temperature.

If you have AC, turn it on, but be mindful of the drag on the power grid. So keep it at 72 instead of 68. With this heat, you’ll never get it to 68. Most AC units can only reduce ambient temperature by about 20 degrees (or at least I’ve been told).

If you don’t have AC, create your own version of swamp cooling. Put a low, wide bowl filled with water and ice cubes in front of a fan. Let the fan blow the air over the bowl and toward you. It’ll work. Trust me.

Go to the mall, movies or even better yet, the book store! They’ll have AC for sure. You won’t be able to pick up THE LOST though because that does not hit shelves until Tuesday.

Which brings me to . . .

OMG! I can’t believe it’s almost here!! Yes, I am excited about this one. It’s so different, dark and sexy. I hope you’ll love Adam and Bobbie as much as I do.

So to celebrate, we’ve got a mess of partying going in. Look for prizes and giveaways all week long at a number of different places!

Also look for the newsletter in the next few days with more information about the upcoming THE LOST release party and giveaway, which includes a chance to win a SONY E-reader, Copies of AZTEC GOLD and THE FIFTH KINGDOM, a THE LOST T-shirt as well as other fun prizes!
