Happy April Fools’ Day

Happy April Fools’ Day! Did you know that many historians think this date goes back to 1852 when the first day of the year was changed from the April Spring Equinox to January 1 and we started using the Gregorian Calendar. Those who kept on following the old calendar were called April Fools. Other theories is that it goes back to Roman times when some would play pranks or hoaxes on each other around the end of March. Regardless, it is a day for funny things and so I want you to think about this photo. What do you think about when you see it? I know what I think about every time I see one of these logging trucks, namely Final Destination 2. Do you play hoaxes or pranks on this day? Do you yell “April Fools”? P.S. This is no joke: You can download The Fifth Kingdom for free from April 1 to 5. Just visit https://amzn.to/3xrNy5p.

Man Candy Monday Michiel Huisman

I first noticed Michiel in HBOMax’s The Flight Attendant starring Kaley Cuoco of Big Bang fame. I didn’t know what to expect but was thoroughly surprised and pleased by the action-packed and twisty suspense. Michiel plays a love angle of sorts to Kaley’s very tortured and interesting heroine. I highly recommend it. Hubby and I are watching Michiel now in Echo 3 which also stars the very handsome Luke Evans. As for Michiel, I could totally picture him playing Ricky Gonzalez who is the hero in Brickell Avenue Ambush, #2 in the South Beach Security series (Available December 27, 2022). Here’s a teaser for Brickell Avenue Ambush and you can check out this romance at https://amzn.to/3BlccUz.

Aldis Hodge on Man Candy Monday

Hubby and I have a list of things that we’re watching and one of them is City on a Hill. It’s a fascinating show about a rough and sometimes not so ethical FBI Agent Jackie Rohr who is played by Kevin Bacon. But it’s hard not to focus on handsome Aldis Hodge who plays a District Attorney who is often at odds with Jackie. Aldis just commands the screen with his presence. He is just so handsome and his character on the show is compelling. If you get a chance and love police/DA drames, definitely check out City on a Hill. If you like Aldis, you can also find him in Hidden Figures and Leverage. Also, don’t forget to enter my giveaway which includes several items autographed by Brenda Novak and the South Beach Love DVD.

Man Candy Michael Trevino as Luis

As a writer you can’t help but imagine who might play one of your heroes if your book was ever made into a movie. I got totally lucky when William Levy played the role of Tony Sanchez in South Beach Love which was turned into a Hallmark Channel Original Movie last October. But it has me wondering who would play Luis if someone ever decided to make a movie of The Family She Never Met. I had to do some research – a tough job but someone has to do it – and decided that Michael Trevino would make a great Luis. What do you think?

Man Candy Monday Ryan Guzman

I just watched Windows on the World, an interesting movie about a young man who comes to New York in search of his father who was working in the World Trade Center on 9/11. As a New Yorker the concept intrigued me and it was an interesting movie. It also had a very handsome young man playing the lead: Ryan Guzman.

I had not seen Ryan before. He’s been in the successful Step Up franchise and also 9-1-1. I will definitely look for him again and I could see him playing the role of someone like FBI Agent Miguel Peters in Trapping a Terrorist. What do you think?
