**WARNING** For Mature Audiences Only

At a sound from behind, she turned. A guy came down the hall, his attention on the clipboard he held.

Lauren’s heart stalled then raced.

She guessed him to be in his early thirties, a mountain of a man, possibly six-three, not a trace of fat on his hard body, just smooth bronze skin and slabs of muscles. Lord, lord, lord. He wore faded jeans and a gray sleeveless tee. His bulging biceps sported tats. The one on his right arm was an armband of what appeared to be thorns. The design on his left arm had a tribal look about it, possibly Celtic, a series of thick black swirls that intertwined.

Lauren pressed her toes into her heels to keep from swaying or moving closer.

His hair was shoulder length, like a pirate’s, a dark brown color, thick and silky that encouraged a woman to run her fingers through it to ease those strands away from his gorgeous face. Masculine. Decidedly Latin. Virile to the extreme. Even though it was barely two o’clock, he already had five o’clock shadow and more testosterone pumping through him than the law should have allowed.

She imagined him nude. Hell, she imagined both of them naked, his bristly cheeks tickling the insides of her thighs, his tongue lapping her cleft, settling on her clit but not rushing her climax. No damn way. Lauren figured a guy who looked as great as he did wouldn’t let her come quickly. He’d make her wait for pleasure. Once she was blubbering in delight, he’d bend her over the front counter and warn her to behave, which meant she couldn’t moan too loudly as he spanked her. Her cries of delight would come later when he plunged his meaty cock into her juicy cunt, taking what he wanted, because that’s the kind of man he was.

Uninhibited. Alpha to the core.

Lauren whimpered.

Despite the strains of Spanish guitars flowing from the sound system, he’d obviously heard the noise she’d made. Halting suddenly, he lifted his face, his dark brown eyes meeting hers. He smiled easily, confidently.

Her bones went soft.

“Hey,” he said.

Lauren’s belly fluttered at his deep, rich baritone.

Noting her office wear, he put the clipboard on the front counter and moved closer, his stride smooth and assured. His fragrance wafted toward her. Something clean and citrusy that reminded Lauren of summer days, an ocean breeze, sun baking naked skin.

She locked her knees to keep her balance. Her attention inched from his impressive Adam’s apple to his luscious mouth, his full, kissable lips.

“Did you lose your way?” he asked.

With him, any woman would. Not only was he beautiful, intelligence burned in his eyes and reflected in his surprisingly educated speech. “I’m sorry, what?”

He regarded her suit and heels. “Are you looking for another shop?”

“No.”

Surprise registered on his face. “You’re here for a tat?”

Lauren stared at the ones on his biceps, unable to help herself. Damn, they were hot. “Not exactly.”

He nodded. The ends of his hair swayed over his broad shoulders. Mesmerized, Lauren watched.

“A piercing?” he asked.

“What?”

“Are you here for a piercing?” He gestured to another wall filled with pictures. The muscles in his upper arm flexed.

Lauren bit back a sound of approval at that and the silky dark hair in his pit. She pictured her face pressed to it as she smelled his wonderful, male scent.

“You can see what we offer in those photos,” he said. “We also have binders of what we’ve done for past clients to give you an idea of what you might like.”

Lauren nodded absently, wondering if he was dating the young woman who’d left here earlier. If not, the spring in her step was probably from him inking a hidden part of her. “Do people really get their tongues tattooed?”

He grinned, showing perfect teeth. “You bet.”

“Why?”

He shrugged good-naturedly. “Why not?”

Clearly, he wasn’t uptight as she’d always been. How Lauren envied that. “Have you?”

“Have I what?”

“Had your tongue tattooed? Or are the ones on your arms all that you have?”

His smile broadened. He spoke conspiratorially. “I have another, though not on my tongue.”

Uh-huh. Lauren wondered if he’d inked his balls and cock, hoping he hadn’t. His equipment had to be as awesome as the rest of him. No way could anyone improve on nature’s perfection.

She sighed.

He regarded her thoughtfully, really taking in her short blonde hair, clothes and finally her features, including the small mole near the side of her mouth. There, he lingered, as though he liked the beauty mark.

Are you nuts? A guy like him? Get real.

He continued to study her mouth.

A wave of desire and embarrassment rushed through Lauren so quickly, her throat and cheeks got hot.

He smiled softly this time, as though he felt bad for making her uncomfortable. Lightly touching her arm, he murmured, “Let me get those binders so you can look through them.”

“No, don’t. Please. That’s not why I’m here.”

His dark eyebrows lifted a bit. “You’re selling something?” His attention went to her purse as though her product line was in there.

“Uh no. I’m here to take over.”

“Take over?”

“Uh-huh.”

He looked lost. “As in what?”

“This place.” At his continuing confusion, she blurted, “I own this place and everything in it, including you.”

#TeaserTuesday Ensnared by Charisma Knight

EnsnaredI’m lucky to have with me today fellow author Charisma Knight! Charisma is a multi-published author and cover artist, living in the Maryland area with her daughter and husband. You’ll discover her stories are a mixture of erotica and erotic romance containing a wild edge with a little fantasy sprinkled throughout. If you’re an avid reader of Charisma’s stories, don’t be shy—she loves to receive e-mails from readers. You may contact her via her website at www.charismaknight.com.

Charisma is here today to tell us about her latest release, ENSNARED! So without further ado, here’s more about this sexy sci fi fantasy novel!

Blurb

Naturally feisty Charlie Marine plans for an extended vacation on Mars in spite of all the abductions in her area. When she misses her shuttle, a strange Xuldarian man claiming to be a pilot approaches her. Against her better judgment and eager to start her vacation, she takes him up on his offer and discovers she’s been abducted and to be delivered to a Vaakulsian Commander–Rhyker Aluhira.

Rhyker knew from the first time he laid eyes on the tall, dark, and beautiful Earth goddess that he was in for the long haul–only, he didn’t know just how much of a fight she’d put up to preserve her identity. Unlike submissive Xuldarian and Vaakulsian women, Charlie is brave and defiant. Rhyker fears her outspoken ways will soon place her in danger. Can Rhyker and Charlie meet each other half way or will they continue to butt heads in a world where women are expected to be subservient?

Excerpt

Vaakulsia, 2230

Rhyker’s chest tightened as he carefully walked around the bodies of Vaakulsians littering the streets. Crystalline buildings now lay in shattered ruins and a heavy cloud of smoke lingered in the once-beautiful skies of Vaakulsia. Bombs had been dropped, causing large sinkholes to open in the earth. Soot covered his body from the war Earthlings had initiated when he and his leaders refused to allow them to colonize and mine Vaakulsia’s valuable resources.

Choking back tears threatening to fall, he tightened his mouth and continued his search for his wife and child, despite the skull-splitting pain he’d experienced due to the poisons lingering in the air. Planet Vaakulsia was no more, thanks to the war that had raged for the better half of a year. When the war erupted six months ago between the Vaakulsians and the Earthlings, Rhyker and his brother Rhogwaar, along with one hundred and fifty of his men, took to the stars. With the assistance of his Xuldarian friend, Jader, they made an effort to fight the invaders from Earth.

They would have won the war if the humans hadn’t taken things a step further. No one knew exactly just how low they would sink to win not just the battles, but the war. The Agency sunk to biological warfare to end it all after successfully managing to shield Earth from any type of invasion.

Only yesterday, the humans decided to bring out their biggest weapon; the virus they created to hopefully infect and rid the great dragons from their coveted home. No one saw it coming, not even his allies, the Xuldarians. His skin still itched from whatever it was they’d dropped on the planet. His eyes watered and his throat burned and he was sure he didn’t have long to live, but he needed closure—needed to find Mira and Kalen.

EXCERPT:

Easy tugged down the covers and gestured for Jenna to get in. She chose the side that would allow her to lie on the uninjured side of her face.

“After what you’ve been through, I don’t want to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable,” Easy said.

Propping herself on an elbow, Jenna shook her head. “You won’t. You’re the—” She blanched as if she hadn’t meant to say whatever she’d nearly said.

Which made Easy need to know. He crawled on the bed as if lured by the words. “Finish. That. Sentence.”

She eased back onto the pillow, red hair sprawling around her shoulders like silk, and stared up at him. And it took everything Easy had not to settle himself on top of her and tease the words out with his hands and tongue.

“The only one who makes me feel safe,” she whispered.

Satisfaction humming through him, Easy turned and stretched out on his back. Because if he kept looking at her while she was looking at him like that, he might not be able to restrain himself from having what he wanted. A taste. A chance.

None of which she was in any shape for. And given the shitstorm in his head, probably neither was he.

“Good. That’s good,” he murmured, blowing out a long breath. Damn, he was tired. Not just because he hadn’t slept much the night before. But because of the size of the load he’d been shouldering for the past twelve-plus months. If he could only figure out how to put it down. He scrubbed his hands over his face, wishing he could shake himself out of this fucking slump.

If Rimes were here, he’d kick Easy’s ass for being such a morose motherfucker.

But he wasn’t here. Which was the damn problem in a nutshell.

He dropped his arms to the bed and peered over at Jenna.

She lay on her side facing him, hand tucked under her chin, not looking the least bit settled or relaxed.

“Whatchu need?”

“You.” She spoke the word without any hesitation, any doubt, any seeming self-consciousness.

“Have me, Jenna. Whatever you want,” he said, his cock stirring no matter how hard he reined himself in.

Holding his gaze, she moved closer until her head rested on his shoulder and her body trapped his arm between them. And, suddenly, she wasn’t fucking close enough.

“Here,” he whispered, lifting his arm and inviting her closer. And damn if his heart didn’t soar when she fitted herself the rest of the way against him, her face against his throat, her breasts against his ribs, her leg curling up onto his thigh.

He wasn’t sure whose sigh was louder. All Easy knew was that this was the first time in more than a year he didn’t feel alone. Wrapping his arm around her, he couldn’t resist squeezing her in just a little closer.

“Thank you,” she whispered, her breath ticklish against his neck.

He laced his fingers between hers where they rested on his chest. “I gotchu. You just close your eyes and know I’m here.”

Did you have a favorite line? Thanks for reading!

Cypher-Cover-Woman-Final1-72dpiWe’re really lucky to have with us today my friend and fellow author Cathy Perkins. Cathy is sharing a teaser from her new release CYPHER.

But first, here is a little more about Cathy!

BIO: An award-winning author, Cathy Perkins works in the financial industry, where she’s observed the hide-in-plain-sight skills employed by her villains. She writes predominantly financial-based mysteries but enjoys exploring the relationship aspect of her characters’ lives. A member of Sisters in Crime, Romance Writers of America (Kiss of Death chapter) and International Thriller Writers, she is a contributing editor for The Big Thrill, handles the blog and social media for the ITW Debut Authors, and coordinated the prestigious Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense.

Born and raised in South Carolina, the setting for CYPHER, HONOR CODE and THE PROFESSOR, she now lives in Washington with her husband, children, several dogs and the resident deer herd.

Blurb

Cara Wainwright thinks life can’t get tougher when her mother’s cancer becomes terminal—until she returns home from the hospital and finds a courtyard full of police officers and her houseguests dead.

Greenville, SC Detective David Morris, is unsure if Cara is the suspect or the intended murder victim. As he searches for insight into her family, their mounting secrets, and the conflicting evidence from multiple crimes, his attraction to Cara complicates his investigation. Is the lure need, manipulation—or real?

While David pursues forensic evidence, Cara pushes for answers about her father’s possible involvement, for at the center of the mystery stands Cypher—the company her father built and will take any measures to defend.

When the assassin strikes at the heart of the family, Cara and David have to trust each other and work together to stop the killer before he eliminates the entire Wainwright dynasty.

Teaser

In this section, against her attorney’s instructions, Cara Wainwright has arranged to meet Detective David Morris at the hospital where her terminally ill mother is a patient. Newspaper coverage speculating about her murdered friends, Natalie and Reese, and Cara’s role in their death prompted her give him a different perspective on all of them. Through his investigation into Cara’s life and personality, David is already fighting his attraction to her. He doesn’t know if she’s the murderer, a co-conspirator—or innocent.

Morris led Caroline through the ordeal, in detail this time, from Natalie’s arrival on Friday to this meeting. After probing for details about the various relationships, he took her through the weekend several more times, looking for holes, but her story matched the evidence he’d found. He made notes as she talked, listening for the little signs that indicated she might be lying. All he heard was her bewilderment and determination to find the murderer.

“I still can’t believe they’re dead.” She traced a circle on the table with her finger.

“Ms. Wainwright, there’s one area we haven’t discussed.” He waited until he’d recaptured her attention. “This took place in your home. Is someone trying to hurt you?”

She met his eyes. “I don’t know.”

He waited for more.

Her hands rose and fell in a frustrated gesture. “Don’t you think I’ve asked myself that a thousand times? Ever since it happened, I’ve asked why? Was it random? Were they after me? One of them?” A flush climbed her cheeks, but her eyes didn’t waver. “Natalie looks a lot like me. She was in my bed.”
She stopped, her lips pressed tightly together. He was intently aware of her—how she held her head, her hands. The way she stood and sat. He didn’t want to be aware of her on that level, knew it couldn’t go anywhere. He also recognized the sensation wasn’t going to go away.

“Nothing makes sense.” Her fingers clenched the edge of the table. Her expression said she was remembering more than she was saying. She was finally feeling the events. Until now, her emotions would’ve been too numb. Her friends had died, violently. Nothing he said could touch that pain.

Biting her lip, she again blinked back tears.

Morris stalled, reading through his notes. He sometimes felt awkward when a victim or witness cried, but Caroline’s struggle to control her emotions punched through his professional skin. He wanted to take her into his arms and let her sob, but he couldn’t. Instead, he had to be heartless. “Caroline, I know this is hard, but I’m not the enemy. I need your help to find whoever killed your friends.”

Swallowing hard, she whispered, “I’m sorry.”

“I’m sorry for your losses. All of them,” he said—and meant it.

She took a deep breath, visibly setting her grief aside.

He waited a beat, but she didn’t speak. “Can you think of any reason someone would want to hurt your friends?”

“No.” She looked up. Her eyes were red-rimmed but focused. “I’ve tried to think through the possibilities.” Her forefinger flicked out. “One, Natalie got mixed up in something in Atlanta. Trouble followed her up the road.”

“That’s possible,” he said. They hadn’t really considered that angle. He needed to call the Georgia officers.

Caroline shook her head. “She never mentioned any problems. And believe me, Natalie can’t keep a secret. If something were wrong, she’d have told me.”

Another finger came out. “I’m sure you’ve heard the stories—Reese and his women. That was before Natalie, but even if he made a massive error in judgment about some woman’s mental state, I can’t believe she’d break into my condo. Or if he slipped up and got involved with a married woman, her husband would have the same problem. How would he know where to go, that Reese would be at my place?”

Before Morris could ask her to explain the “error in judgment” or prod her about Reese’s drugs, she said, “There may be another possibility.”

“Oh?” His attention immediately sharpened. They’d already covered his primary motives.

Her fingers drummed the table. “As far as I know, no one hates me. My family has money, but most of it’s tied up in Cypher. The company’s never been an active target before.”

Before? “Is something different this time? Have there been threats?”

“I’m not aware of any.”

She was hedging. “Anything from a disgruntled employee?”

“It’s just a feeling. That something’s going on. With the company.”

He found himself in the uncomfortable position of pulling a Pennell. He couldn’t take her instincts to court. He needed something solid. “You aren’t involved in the company?”

Caroline shook her head. He tried to focus on the subtext of her words rather than her perfume and the way her chest rose and fell sharply when she tried not to cry.

“It was a mutual decision. I enjoy my work with Robeshaw Advertising. I called Crystal earlier today. She said the police were there. Was that you?”

He wasn’t going to let her off that easily. “I could talk to your father about threats to the company.”

Her body language said, Good luck with that one.

The corner of his mouth twitched. “Already tried that, huh?”

“He’s big on Need to Know.”

“What about you?” He tried to say it neutrally. He didn’t want to be attracted to her, but he wasn’t looking forward to hearing about her love life either.

“Me? I’ve already told you, nobody’s threatened me.”

“This could be directed at you personally rather than your family. Maybe an old boyfriend?”
She recoiled as if he’d slapped her. “Bill would never—”

“If it is directed at you,” he interrupted, “the guy could try again. We need to consider the possibility.”

For a long moment, she stared at him. Then she released a slow breath and relaxed her shoulders. “You can take my old boyfriends off your suspect list.” A wry expression twitched her mouth. “I can think of one guy who broke my heart back in college, but I didn’t exactly leave a trail of crushed men in my wake.”

Don’t sell yourself short.
