Happy Mets Moment

Many years ago, my daughter and I were able to go to a division playoff game. Twice. The first time we were already in the stadium when they decided to not play on account of rain. We trudged home and had to come back a couple of days later. The game went late. It was almost midnight when the Mets finally lost. Sad face. Luckily, we made it to our train which was the last one for the night. We’re rooting for our Mets again and hope they can come back and win the National Division Championship and hopefully, the World Series. It’s been way too long! P.S. If you love sports romances, especially spicy baseball ones, grab your copy of ROOKIE OF THE YEAR at https://amzn.to/4h1N08K. I think you’ll love this story about a talented rookie and his older trainer.

Exciting Fan Girl Moment!

I’ve been busy sharing some of my more memorable happenings as an author over the last 25 years and today’s memory is my exciting fan girl moment with Nora Roberts! When THE LOST was nominated for a RITA, I also got an invite to sign with Nora at the Turn the Page bookstore in Maryland. SIGN WITH NORA! I even got to sit next to her. Well, okay, it was next to her son who was next to her. LOL! But I have to say, Nora was so gracious and friendly to everyone who was there. After the signing, I asked Nora to pose with me and Spottie (a dog in the book) and she didn’t hesitate to take a moment to do that. It’s a signing that I will always remember! Thank you, Nora! P.S. Speaking of dogs, don’t forget that the next two books in the South Beach Security K-9 Division series are out in November and December. My Exciting RITA Nomination

One of the most exciting things to happen during my 25 year career in publishing was to be nominated for the Romance Writer of America’s RITA for Best Paranormal Romance. The RITAs were the equivalent of the Oscars in the romance world and RWA would have a huge awards show for the nominees. This is a photo of my editor and me at the awards show. The book nominated was THE LOST, the third book in the Sin Hunter series. It is one of my fav books and if I ever have time, I’d love to do another book in that series. In THE LOST, an ancient race with unusual powers has finally found a long-lost son who must help them battle their enemies. If you love stories about ancient races and unique powers, please check out THE FIFTH KINGDOM, another of my fav books. It’s specially priced at 99 cents for a limited time. Last Day in Toronto

What a great day yesterday at Harlequin offices. Learned so much about everything they do to publish our books. After that, we went to a cool book fair to support our fellow authors. Finally, an awesome party at the St. Regis to celebrate the 75th anniversary!

Harlequin Celebrates 75

While I’m celebrating my 25th anniversary of being published, Harlequin is celebrating 75! Congrats! I also realized that this year is the 20th anniversary of my first Harlequin book. To let the authors celebrate with them, Harlequin invited us to join them in their Toronto offices for meet and greets, seminars, and a ball. Today was our day for some of the meet and greets and seminars and it was really interesting to learn how our books are produced. It was also great to spend time with old friends, make new ones, and enjoy the sights of Toronto from the Harlequin offices. We’re having a great time and really look forward to tomorrow’s activities and the black and white ball. I hope to share more pictures with you tomorrow! P.S. The terra cotta looking building is Old City Hall which we passed on the way to the Harlequin offices.

My First Book Signing

Since I wrote yesterday about how exciting it was to be celebrating 25 years since the publication of my first book, I decided that on this Throwback Thursday I’d share a photo from my very first book signing! This is my daughter and I at the Waldenbooks in Menlo Park Mall in Edison. The Waldenbooks stores were always very romance friendly and it was exciting that they let me sign there. They were so nice. They had the table right up front and even had some flowers for me! Happy memories! This weekend I’ll be making more happy memories as I’m visiting Harlequin in Toronto. They’re celebrating their 75th Anniversary and have invited their authors to come and celebrate with them! I’ll try to share photos as soon as I can.

The Elusive and Exciting Century Plant

My husband sent me an article he read about the Century Plant at Longwood Gardens being in bloom and of course, my sister and I had to go see it for ourselves! We made the nearly two hour trip to one of our favorite places and went in search of the Century Plant. Along the way we were able to see so many beautiful orchids and other flowers until we reached the cactus area of the conservatory where the glass panes of the conservatory roof had been taken out to allow the century plant to bloom. A good ten or more feet of the bloom escaped into the sky! The Century Plant doesn’t bloom very often and while it doesn’t take one hundred years, it can take as much as twenty-five years for the plant to bloom so we weren’t going to miss out on this. The bloom will be visible through the early fall when we’ll be back to Longwood to see the opening of their new additions to the gardens. What do you think? Would you take a trek to see what might be a once-in-a-lifetime bloom? P.S. If you love books with people who love gardens, check out MORE THAN A MISSION, my romantic suspense about a chef who might be an assassin. Her garden which provides some of the herbs and spices for her cooking, but maybe also for poisoning a prince! Download your copy at https://amzn.to/3yvguoB.
