#WriteWed Inspiration is all around me . . .

Every year my family makes a trip to get our Christmas Tree and to visit New York City to see all the Christmas sights. This year it was a challenging trip. Lots of rain, at times with powerful winds that drove the wet into us. We persevered and got our tree and had a lovely time, although we did have to camp out for about two hours in the Time Warner center to warm up, dry off, and get some dry socks. All in all though, it was a lovely day filled with laughter.

I know that some of our experiences from this rain-soaked holiday excursion will make it into a book someday. Here are some photos from our day. I’ll have more from you as soon as I download them from my camera. It was just too wet to risk using the phone at times for the photos. Click on where it says CHRISTMAS 2014 to see more photos!

#WriteWed ONE LAST NIGHT and Family Relationships

ONE LAST NIGHT Erotic Military RomanceFamily relationships can be both difficult and rewarding. It all depends on the people involved and the challenges they have been presented in life. Sometimes people are presented with challenges they handle in ways that harmful to the family relationship even though they think that what they’re doing is the right thing.

I had a situation in my life like that after my mom died. We really weren’t ready for it because she was so young and it happened so fast and the aftermath was hard in many ways. I coped with it as I could, trying to make things as right as I could for the people around me.

It took me a long time to realize that I hadn’t given myself the time I needed to grieve and that the people around me didn’t necessarily want or need what I had done to keep things on an even keel.

It was that kind of life challenge that inspired the relationship between Trevor and his father. I can’t really say what the “big event” in Trevor’s life was without spoiling a key revelation in ONE LAST NIGHT, but I will tell you that it was what led in large part to the path Trevor chooses to walk and his estrangement from his father.

Kind of heavy for a sexy kind of story, but for me the story is all about the emotion and romance. If that’s not there, all the sex in the world won’t make it right.

I guess I did something right. Here’s what Samantha H. had to say about ONE LAST NIGHT:

“Beautifully written love story. Trevor and Maggie’s book is one story that you must read. Their love story will make you laugh, cry, and fan yourself.”

#WriteWed Take a Chance Series #Military #Romance & #Giveaway

One Last Night erotic military romanceWow, oh wow, talk about writing inspiration! I’ve just started STAY THE NIGHT, the next novella in the Take a Chance series and again, Wow! I am having so much fun exploring the conflict between a couple that have become strangers during the husband’s military duty, but still have passion (and maybe more) binding them together.

The hero in the story is Rafe Castillo, a Navy Seal coming home for leave before heading back for his last months of duty. His wife, Elena, was only eighteen when she became pregnant and Rafe’s honor and deep-rooted beliefs made him marry her. Of course, Rafe has kind of been in love with Elena for a very long time otherwise he wouldn’t have become involved with her.

Flash forward three years later and Elena is now a woman. A smart, sexy and independent woman who Rafe almost doesn’t recognize when she meets him at the airport. Elena has a good job, is going to college, has just gotten a promotion complete with a new company car, and she’s bought them a home.

Elena has basically moved on with her life and Rafe is not sure if he has a place in it anymore.

I’m just loving exploring that and the passion between them. I hope you’ll like Stay the Night also when it comes out in late November.

#WriteWed FOLLOWING JANE Inspiration

Following JaneToday’s Write Wednesday is dedicated to my fabulous daughter and her debut novel, FOLLOWING JANE.

Samantha was lucky enough to spend a semester in London and when combined with her love of Jane Austen and an assortment of boy bands, it was only natural that she mix up all three loves into a fun and emotionally compelling story.

FOLLOWING JANE is a young adult romance that combines a scavenger hunt left behind by none other than Jane Austen with a young woman’s desire to fulfill her dying mother’s last words: to take up an adventure that is “just around the corner.”

The heroine, Lizzie (of course), sets off to London and along the way meets a young boy band member who will soon assist her in her quest and also present another challenge: romance.

Congratulations Samantha on this debut novel! I am so proud of you! What do others have to say about this novel? Here’s just one of the many 5 star reviews:

“I literally could not put this book down. It follows a young woman around England in such a way, you feel as if you are there yourself. With a little love, lots of laughs, tears, and mystery, this book is a must read. For the 20-somethings, the 30-somethings, and beyond, Jane will show you how to be independent, brave, and true to yourself. Kudos to the author for taking us on this journey!” Meaghan Abell, Reader

samauthorAbout the Author: Debut author Samantha Scordato has been penning stories in her journals for many years. She fell in love with Jane Austen at an early age and kept up with her love through an undergraduate degree in Fashion Merchandising and an MBA from Philadelphia University. After graduating, Samantha turned her attention to her two loves: Running a surf and skate shop and writing. FOLLOWING JANE is Samantha’s first novel, but she has already finished another novel. #WriteWed Lunar Eclipse Inspiration

This morning I was up in time to catch the start of the lunar eclipse. I’m attaching some of the photos for you to see.

People often ask me where I get the inspiration for my stories. Sometimes it’s just every day things like a news item or an interesting name I see. Sometimes it’s things like today’s lunar eclipse.

If vampires could come out to play during a solar eclipse, I wonder who comes out when there’s a lunar one? Or could some kind of alien invasion happen as the earth block’s the sun’s rays on the moon?

What do you think? Time for a sci fi kind of novel?

#WriteWed What Inspires Me to Write? You, the Reader!

Yes, you read that right. Look in the mirror and you will see who inspires me to write.

Why? Think of it this way: If a tree falls in a forest and no one sees that, did the tree really fall?

So, if I write a book and no one reads it, did I really write it?

One of the most rewarding things about writing the books and sending them out into the world has been YOU, the reader. I have loved chatting with you, meeting with you and hearing from you.

I love that you love the stories and that you don’t. I love that exchange of ideas and that we share a common love: books.

So if you’re ever wondering again why I write, it’s because I love giving you stories to read and getting to know you better in the process.

Speaking of stories, I am in the home stretch on the new novella in the Take a Chance series. This one has been a tough one to write because of the characters and the very emotional reason they get together. Yes, it’s erotic romance so you can expect lots of sexiness, but I hope the takeaway from this book will be much much more for you!

I hope to have it ready for you in late October so that you can snuggle under the blanket with a bucket of Halloween candy glommed from the kids and chase away the chill with Maggie and Trevor’s story.
