#WriteWed Inspiration for UNDER THE BOARDWALK

I was born on an island: Cuba. I grew up on an island: Long Island. I work on an island: Manhattan. Plus I’m a Pisces so you can kind of say that I have an affinity for the water.

But once I moved out to New Jersey, work and family obligations kept me from exploring the amazing Jersey Shore. It wasn’t until a birthday celebration weekend at the lovely Beacon House in Sea Girt that hubby and I discovered that part of New Jersey.

Once we discovered it, there was no turning us back from moving there and I am so glad that we did. I love taking long strolls on the boardwalk and spending summers reading under my umbrella. Even the winters months are great and the flavors of each of the towns in our area are unique and special.

My love for this part of the Jersey Shore is what inspired me to set UNDER THE BOARDWALK in Asbury Park and Ocean Grove. Today I’m sharing some photos from those towns and I hope you will get to visit one day and come see me if you do! P.S., my daughter’s shop – OG Surf & Skate – is right in the heart of Ocean Grove.

#ManCandyMonday Chase & Natalie from UNDER THE BOARDWALK

I’m counting down the minutes to the release of UNDER THE BOARDWALK in the SUMMER HEAT box set! I hope you’ll like Chase and Natalie’s story since it was such a fun one to write.

Today’s Man Candy choice is Chase Smith, the hero of the story. I wanted a really upper crusty sounding name for him and Chase just fit the bill. The reality is that Chase is anything but rich. Chase grew up poor and had to work hard for everything he ever got. It’s important to Chase to be able to provide for Natalie, who did grow up with much much more.

Unfortunately that drive to succeed is a large part of what drove him away from his wife. I loved exploring how Chase tries to find himself again so that he can be the man with whom Natalie fell in love.

This is how I pictured Chase and Natalie during happier times, sharing some time on the Jersey Shore and just having fun!

#ThrowbackThursday My Mom and Brother in Cuba

Cuba has been in the news a lot lately and for many of us who left, it’s been an emotional upheaval. People ask me all the time if I will go back and I have to explain how difficult the Cuban government makes it for us to visit. Besides, the Castros made my family’s life miserable, so why would I go back so long as they’re alive?

But, I thought I’d share this photo of my mom and brother in Cuba before the Castro dictatorship took hold and created the diasporo that exiled so many Cubans all around the world and in the United States.

#ManCandyMonday Michael Conforto of the Amazing Mets

Yes, I’m a Mets fan. I have been for some time. It’s hard to be a Mets fan, but I love the underdog.

Conforto is an amazing young player and such a cutie. He shows grace under pressure, can hit like a more seasoned player, and is a good outfielder. I’m looking forward to seeing so much more of him.

Plus, he’s only the third player in baseball history to have played in the Little League World Series, College World Series, and Major League World Series. Plus, as a rookie, he hit two home runs in a World Series game, a feat that hasn’t been done since 1996.

I’m happy to say I’ll be going to a game in a week. Against the Nationals which should be fun since the Mets and Nationals are battling for first.

#FreebieFriday JUST ONE NIGHT #Military #Romance

Happy Friday! I love Fridays and thinking about a fun weekend. There’s a town wide garage sale going on that I plan to hit and it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday which means I get to visit my wonderful Mother-in-law and plant her gardens for her! Of course, I’ll just have to pick up my own veggies and flowers for my garden. I hope it gets and stays warm because it’s long past time for spring to get here so I can put out the plants.

#ManCandyMonday Baseball Player Sam Fuld

I’m back! I’ve been busy doing some research for the new Bridesmaids series, now tentatively titled The Jersey Girl Bridesmaids, and getting to some major chores that needed to get done.

Things are good otherwise and I hope they are good with you!

Since one of the things I’ve managed to sneak in is some Mets games on TV, today’s Man Candy choice is Sam Fuld who is currently an outfielder for the Oakland Athletics. Sam is known for his acrobatic catches and for also being a full-time player with Type 1 diabetes. Sam was also a high school and college All-American who married his high school sweetheart.
