#FunFriday My New Kitten

We’ve had an odyssey of sorts with some feral cats in our yard. Well over a year ago, we had a small cat come up and we felt so bad for it, we started feeding it. That kept up for several months and then it left, but came back with a little kitten. It was so so cute. These cats were all black and one of them had extra toes on its front paws.

Well, we started feeding the kitten and the larger cat stopped coming by. Then there was a gap and then the former kitten brought two more little black kittens with it. You could tell they were all related by the coloring and again, one of them had more toes.

We vowed to take them in for spaying and didn’t realize how quickly cats could breed. About two months ago, an air conditioner repairman warned that there were some feral kittens by the air conditioner and that they didn’t look too good. Sadly, there were 5, including one solid grey cat. By the time we got there, two were gone and sadly the other two passed that night even as we tried to take care of them.

It was a very sad and sobering moment. As for the grey one, it was larger than the four that passed and the mommy cat came and took it away.

Little did we know there were two other kittens as well. Over the weeks we’ve continued to feed the mommy cat and her sibling. About two weeks ago, the sibling brought up the grey kitten and left it at our door, much like cats do as a gift. We were baffled by that behavior and did our best to protect the little one by placing it in a cat bed where it curled up to sleep.

Luckily, mommy cat came about half an hour later and took the kitten back home.

We knew that if we had any chance of domesticating these kittens, we could not wait long to capture them and get them to the right people/shelter. Also, we do want to get the older cats spayed so as to avoid more feral animals.

Last night, the entire family was playing and hanging out on the deck, but as I passed by later that night, I noticed the grey one all alone and curled up in a pot.

I went over and it was sleeping, so I thought, time to see if it’s okay and if so, bring it in.

Well, it is okay and adapting to being held, etc. It could be that the kittens see us petting and taking care of the older ones. They started coming to the door to feed yesterday and have been spending a lot of time on the deck.

We’ll have to figure out what to do with them later. For right now, we’ve got a new kitten that we’re getting adapted to indoor life and we’ll have to take him to the vet. It is a him which will be new for me. I’ve always had female cats.

So far he has no name. We’ll have to decide on one later! Any suggestions? He’s all grey and the runt of the litter for sure. In the second picture, you can see that he fell asleep trying to climb back into the bed.

#WriteWed Inspiration for Nickie from Just One Night

Just One Night New Adult Erotic Romance by Caridad PineiroWhen I decided to write a story about twentysomethings who had to make tough choices, it was difficult to find the kinds of professions where the hero and heroine might have to choose between love and their careers.

When it came to the hero, I had been inspired to make him a Marine from my days at Villanova with their ROTC program.

The inspiration for Nickie, the medical school student, likewise came from my days at college. I was a science major who intended to go to med school. Went the whole route of taking the MCATs and applying. Interviewed and was wait-listed at Columbia.

In the meantime I started working at a law firm to earn some money to pay for food, school, and stuff. That’s where I discovered my love of Intellectual Property law and decided to go to law school. Being a lawyer gave me reasons to truly embrace a path to a writing career and publishing my first book.

So even though God closed the door to med school, he gave me a path to take me to where I am today.

Anyway, back to Nickie. Being in med school was going to be tough for her and also tough for any relationship with someone who wasn’t going to be around. I knew that this would be perfect for the story in Just One Night, especially since it points out some of the things Jase and Nickie have in common. They both are strong and protective and they both want to help others. Perfect.

I hoped you liked this little #WriteWed behind the scenes from Just One Night.

Just one other thing! Today’s my anniversary, so I’m sharing with you this photo from our wedding day which was so so many years ago. Wow. I can’t believe it’s been that long since I met my hubby during our Villanova days.

Spring & #Strawberry #Recipes

Even though it’s still in the twenties today, Spring is definitely here! This morning as I walked through Bryant Park, the ice skating pond was gone and the lawn was back in place. Lovely flowers were in bloom in various spots.

I love the Spring flowers and I also love one other thing about Spring: STRAWBERRIES!

They are so luscious and of course, healthy for you. They have a good deal of sugar, but have a low glycemic load which means they won’t make your blood sugars shoot up and then crash. A cup of strawberries has 150% of your daily requirement of Vitamin C. They also contain manganese and antioxidants.

So, today I’m going to take you to a list of 60 – SIXTY – fabulous strawberry recipes. Just click here to see them!

Also, don’t forget this is Day 2 of the Double Trouble Blog Tour! Come visit with me at the All the Fun Starts After Dark blog today and follow the rules for a chance to win some fun prizes!

Tuesday Travels Philly Flower Show & Monaco

I am so excited about the current WIP, TO CATCH A PRINCESS. It is moving along so well and I’m having a blast with it. Only sad part is that I’ve never been to Monaco and so I can’t include any real life experience for you. It looks like such a fabulous place and it’s been on my Bucket List for a while, so hopefully I’ll get there one day.

Right now I’m working on a scene where the hero whisks away the heroine to his family’s villa just outside of Eze, a small town in France. The roads in this area are kind of risky and curvy and with this being a romantic suspense, you just know there has to be some kind of speeding car scene! I won’t say more and ruin it for you.

Here’s a shot of what some of the roads in the area look like! A sure bet for a wild ride.

But now for some more mundane travel right around the corner from home: Philadelphia. I love the city and of course, the annual flower show! This year it was really nice. The theme was Britain and there were some beautiful gardens and flowers to see and smell.

Here are some of my favorite shots. You can see more by clicking here.

#ManCandyMonday Hrithik Roshan #Bollywood Hottie

I had a fabulous weekend! My writing buddy Nisha Sharma and I hunkered down to get some serious writing down, but we also took time to hang with my daughter and the equally fabulous Gail Freeman, Past President of the Liberty States Fiction Writers.

I was working on my latest WIP – TO CATCH A PRINCESS (working title). This is the romantic suspense follow-up to THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE and I am so loving how this story is working out. I hope you’ll like it also!!

But in between the writing and talking writing, Nisha introduced me to the hunks of Bollywood with the action film DHOOM 2 (or BLAST 2 in English). OMG is the main actor, Hrithik Roshan, a hottie. Gorgeous face and eyes. Amazing body and boy, can he dance. I discovered that about Bollywood movies. At any time the actors and actresses can break out into dance and song with dozens of extras behind them in synchronized movement.

Kind of interesting and it was hard not to appreciate Hrithik every time he came on the screen, especially when he was bare chested! LOL! But in a more serious vein, Hrithik has won numerous Best Actor awards for his work in various movies, so he’s not just a pretty face.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Man Candy Monday.
