Happy 2016! #ManCandyMonday Isaiah Mustafa and Terry Crews #humor

Happy New Year! I hope you all had wonderful holidays and that 2016 proves to be an awesome year for you! I am back and working on getting my butt back in gear for the New Year, so look for some new books, new blogs and hopefully lots of fun.

Today’s Man Candy is actually a double dose of sexy with muscle men Isaiah Mustafa and Terry Crews in an Old Spice commercial. I think these commercials are so funny and yes, they made med revisit Old Spice as something to give hubby and other males.

#FitnessFriday My #Fitness Pinterest Board

I love Pinterest, although I haven’t been pinning that much lately. I’ve just been too busy with work and the holidays. But I have been keeping up with my goals to be more fit. In fact, yesterday I hit the 35 pounds lost mark. I had hoped for it to be 40 by the end of the year, but I’ll take 35 and I plan to keep on going. One thing I do to help get more fit is to use my Fitbit for not only tracking steps, but also as a food journal. Likewise, Wellcoin which I’ve mentioned before.

I also pin interesting workouts, infographics, skinny recipes, etc. to my Fitness Pinterest board and that’s what I’m sharing with you today! I hope you’ll find some interesting information there.

Christmas Cookie Countdown & How to make them healthier #TuesdayTip #HealthyLiving #Recipe

I’m not really a baker, but I love cookies and cakes! Especially cookies. This time of year is both glorious and difficult since I’m sticking to my goal of eating healthier, but those Christmas cookies and treats are so so tempting.

Today’s tip is simple: A link to the awesome Betty Crocker Christmas Cookie Countdown. If you can’t find a cookie that you’ll like on there . . . Well, I don’t know what to say to that.

As for me, I’ll try a couple of these when I have more time and I think I’ll try making some of them healthier with some substitutions. For example, you can substitute a can of diet soda or seltzer in brownie and cake mixes instead of the oil and eggs. Applesauce and mashed bananas can be used as well in lieu of the oil for some cakes, brownies and cookies. You can click here for The Ultimate Guide to Healthier Baking infographic which has a number of other substitutions you can make for healthier eating.

Coconut Oil has also become one of those things to have handy and use as a substitute for butter. Click here for the 10 Best Sugar Cookie Recipes Using Coconut Oil!

#ManCandyMonday Joe from ROOKIE OF THE YEAR #99cents #SportsRomance

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a great day! Today’s Man Candy is Joe Fernandez from ROOKIE OF THE YEAR. I love baseball and it was such fun to write a story that gave New Jersey it’s own Major League Baseball team.

I also loved that this was a story about an older professional woman, Alicia the trainer, and how she deals with falling in love with a younger man.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR is specially priced at 99 cents until the end of this week. The sequel, A WINNING SEASON, will be out before the end of the year.

#ThrowbackThursday 2015 New York City Christmas

Today’s Throwback Thursday isn’t that far a throwback – just to this past Tuesday when we did our annual jaunt into New York City for the Christmas decorations. The video below is of the window displays at various New York City department stores – Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Sak’s and Bergdorf Goodman. We had a blast this year and I’ll be sharing more photos/videos shortly! Click here if you can’t see the Christmas Window video below.

#ThrowbackThursday My Dad

I’ve posted lots of photos of other family members, but not my dad. A lot of people say that I look like him and in this photo, I can kind of see the resemblance. My father could be distant and yet, amazingly romantic and sentimental. One of my most vivid memories of that was of one of the first times he took me to learn to drive. We were in a parking lot and I was tooling around when I heard a sniffle and saw him wiping his eyes. I asked him why and he said that it was because I was holding the wheel just like his dad used to hold the wheel.

I never really knew my dad’s dad. My dad’s parents were divorced and his dad had remarried and stayed in Cuba after all of us left. He died in Cuba when I was a teenager and I know my father felt his loss since it had been so long since he had seen him.

Anyway, here is a picture of my dad as a young boy.
