#FunFriday Let Me Out Simon’s Cat

I love Simon’s Cat and since my new little kitten greets me like this in the morning, I thought it was time to share this funny cat video for a change of pace!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

#ThrowbackThursday London 2010

In 2010 I was working on a series involving ancient relics and it was set primarily in London. I also had another book to write with more scenes in London and since my daughter was doing a study abroad there, it seemed like the perfect time to go and do some research. Just a few problems. It was Easter time and little did we know that there were a lot of “bank holidays” which meant some of the train lines weren’t working. Also, the Queen wasn’t in residence at Buckingham Palace but at Windsor Castle which meant we could walk the grounds, but not see the inside of the castle. 🙁

Still, we had an amazing time and I got to take lots of pictures of prospective locations and visit some of the places I wanted to include in the books.

Here is a photo of me, my daughter and my hubby outside Windsor Castle.

#WriteWed ONE LAST NIGHT and Family Relationships

ONE LAST NIGHT Erotic Military RomanceFamily relationships can be both difficult and rewarding. It all depends on the people involved and the challenges they have been presented in life. Sometimes people are presented with challenges they handle in ways that harmful to the family relationship even though they think that what they’re doing is the right thing.

I had a situation in my life like that after my mom died. We really weren’t ready for it because she was so young and it happened so fast and the aftermath was hard in many ways. I coped with it as I could, trying to make things as right as I could for the people around me.

It took me a long time to realize that I hadn’t given myself the time I needed to grieve and that the people around me didn’t necessarily want or need what I had done to keep things on an even keel.

It was that kind of life challenge that inspired the relationship between Trevor and his father. I can’t really say what the “big event” in Trevor’s life was without spoiling a key revelation in ONE LAST NIGHT, but I will tell you that it was what led in large part to the path Trevor chooses to walk and his estrangement from his father.

Kind of heavy for a sexy kind of story, but for me the story is all about the emotion and romance. If that’s not there, all the sex in the world won’t make it right.

I guess I did something right. Here’s what Samantha H. had to say about ONE LAST NIGHT:

“Beautifully written love story. Trevor and Maggie’s book is one story that you must read. Their love story will make you laugh, cry, and fan yourself.”

Remember Our Vets Today

One Last Night Erotic Military RomanceIt’s Veteran’s Day and I want to take a moment to thank all our military men, women and families for the sacrifices that they make on our behalf. God bless you and keep you safe.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, I’ll be participating in the Read, Write & Remember event on Facebook. Starting at 9 a.m. on November 11, 2014, and running through 9 p.m., a collaborative group of romance authors will be discussing why they write romances with military heroes and will share information about their books and special Veterans Day fundraising projects, as well as recognizing the non-profit organizations they support through financial donations and volunteerism. I will be with you at 2:30 to share my reasons for writing military romance and support our military.

I will be donating 100% of my proceeds from sales of ONE LAST NIGHT today to Hope for the Warriors, an organization that helps wounded military men, women and their families.

#ThrowbackThursday My Mom & Old Time Grace

Whenever I see this picture, I think of how more formal people used to be and how the photos they took were filled with what I call “old time grace.” Of course, you didn’t just snap off a selfie back then. I’m sure having a photograph taken was expensive and quite an event, so you wanted to look your best.

This is a photo taken of my mom in Spain, I think. My grandparents had gone back to visit family before they returned to Cuba. My grandparents had plans to return to Spain to live, but the Spanish Civil War broke out and my grandparents just never got back there.

Many many years later, we would all have to flee Cuba and come to the U.S. and my grandfather would never see his native land again. My family finally visited Spain in 1973 to see where my grandparents had come from in Galicia and to find the family that had gotten lost over the years.

Anyway, my beautiful and adorable mother! Isn’t she lovely?
