#WriteWed I was a reader before I was a writer

Prince ValiantLong before I was a writer, I was a reader. Some of my fondest memories are of reading the Sunday paper with the comics, going to the library, or anxiously standing on the corner waiting for the bookmobile to arrive.

Prince Valiant was my all time fav comic. I lost myself in those amazing images by Hal Foster of Valiant fighting to save his people while falling in love with the fair Aleta. The illustrations in the strip are amazing and I loved reading the stories and making up my own action-adventure romance as I fell asleep at night. I should have known then that I was meant to put my stories on paper in the future.

This strip was first published in 1937 and is still syndicated today to 300 American newspapers. The creator, Hal Forest, is a Hall of Fame cartoonist and illustrator. Thank you, Mr. Forest, for such wonderful memories.

As I mentioned earlier, another memory is of the blue Levittown bookmobile rolling up to the corner. I’d dash in to return the books I had borrowed and to find new books! I always had a book in my hands and when I wasn’t reading a book, I was reading the cereal box. LOL!

#TeaserTuesday Sweet Treats and One Night of Pleasure

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! Seems like an appropriate day for a heroine named Bridget Sullivan who comes from a good Irish Catholic family. Although what she’s thinking of doing will likely send her mother running to church to say quite a few rosaries! LOL!

Today’s Throwback Thursday isn’t that far a toss backward. This picture is from the 2014 RT Convention in New Orleans where I was lucky enough to be able to hang out with my Lucky 7 Romance ladies and the fabulous Sharon Hamilton. As you know, the Lucky 7 ladies have a new box set out – Lucky 7 Brazen Bachelors! I’m also honored to be participating in another box set with Sharon in June – Heroes in Uniform. So excited and I’ll share more on that release as soon as some other details are finalized!

#WriteWed Our Inspiring Warriors

I’ve always loved reading stories about our military men and women and that inspired me to create the Take a Chance series. It’s been a challenge to explore the many facets of military heroes and their struggles in the battlefield and off, but I so love giving them their happily-ever-after.

What’s truly inspiring is the way so many veterans have dealt with the wounds they’ve suffered while serving our Nation. People like Daniel Jacobs who didn’t let the loss of part of his leg, remaining foot, and a few fingers keep him from trying out for the Detroit Lions.

Or Noah Galloway, a double amputee whose goal it is to inspire other other veterans!

This was a tough novella for me to write since I knew when I started that it might not have the kind of happily-ever-after that some readers might want. But as the story developed, I knew that these two characters were not only meant to be together, but to have something wonderful and unexpected happen at the end of the story! It made me tear up a bit and smile, and I hope you’ll feel the same way.

#ManCandyMonday Derek Hough & Jase from JUST ONE NIGHT & Lucky 7 Brazen Bachelors

Good morning! It is a good one as it’s finally starting to get warmer! Woo hoo. Today’s sexy Man Candy Monday is Derek Hough from Dancing with the Stars and the all new NY Spring Spectacular with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. Derek has won 5 Dancing with the Stars competitions and also won an Emmy for his choreography for the show.

I think Derek would be a good Jase if JUST ONE NIGHT was adapted for a movie or television show. Don’t you?
