What Makes You Write a Story

I’d always wanted to write about my mother and her amazing life, but no matter how hard I tried, I found it too emotional. There were just too many things to tell and oftentimes they were wrapped up in too much sadness. So the stories remained somewhere in my brain until the idea came for The Family She Never Met. Seeing the past through the eyes of the heroine, who knows nothing about her family history, made it easier to deal with that past and everything that happened. It also made it possible to tell my mother’s story through the fictional character of Jessica’s grandmother. I hope you will take a moment to check out The Family She Never Met and explore the complicated, but uplifting family history in the story.
