Who doesn’t love cowboys and romance?

Who doesn’t love cowboys and romance? Seriously, I always love a good cowboy story and we’re lucky today because my fellow Harlequin author Tanya Agler is here to share a little bit about her new sweet contemporary romance featuring a cowboy! Welcome Tanya and take a moment to share what are some of your fav romantic comedies!

Hello! I’m Tanya Agler, and I write sweet contemporary romances, nine of which have been published by Harlequin Heartwarming, including my latest release, Her Temporary Cowboy. A huge thank you to Caridad for having me for Takeover Tuesday this week!

I’m a big fan of romantic comedies. One plot twist in some rom-coms is how a misunderstanding rolls out of control and creates a series of events with each scene adding to the confusion and character stakes. I love a good misunderstanding in both movies, television shows, and books. One of my favorite movies is While You Were Sleeping, and I love how Lucy saves Peter and then a tossed-aside comment becomes the basis for the Callaghan family to believe she’s engaged to Peter. It’s not until the wedding that Lucy is finally able to muster her courage to tell the truth. In Her Temporary Cowboy, Lucky Harper wants one thing: he desperately wants to get out of attending the wedding of his best friend’s father to a world-famous singing superstar. In the space of two days and a host of misunderstandings, Lucky goes from reluctant guest to the groom’s daughter’s plus-one to an usher. When Lucky and Elizabeth get together, more misunderstanding ensues until they find themselves in a delicious dilemma.

Here’s a snippet from Lucky and Elizabeth’s story:

“I insist you attend my wedding. It’s the least I can do. It won’t be any trouble adding an extra seat. Elizabeth’s not bringing anyone to the wedding. You can be my personal guest.”

Elizabeth blanched at her father’s observation, while her brother burst out laughing.

Lucky tugged at his T-shirt. It was getting harder by the second to find some graceful way out of staying. He didn’t belong at such a fancy event. “Elizabeth? I could really use your help.”

What was he doing, expecting someone he’d only known for a few hours to read his mind and come up with a convenient excuse for his departure?

“He can’t be your personal guest,” Elizabeth blurted out. Color flooded her cheeks.

Lucky let out the breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. This wedding was an important family occasion. Thankfully, someone had seen sense. He was already counting the minutes until he was on the road.

“Because he’s already my plus-one.”
