Happy National Black Cat Day! Years ago we made a bargain with our daughter: Get good grades and you can get a cat. She honored her part of the bargain so we did as well. The local shelter didn’t have any kittens we could adopt so we called another shelter who said, “Yes, we have a kitten, but she’s a black cat.” That didn’t bother us and we headed to get her. When we arrived, the shelter worker showed us into a large room where the cats could roam free as they didn’t believe in keeping them in cages. My daughter walked into the center of the room and this little black kitten came right up and starting winding around her legs. It was love at first sight and I hoped that this was the little kitten. It was! As we were filling out the adoption papers, the shelter worker mentioned that black cats are hard to adopt because of fears about black cats. We loved our little black cat that we named Osiris. She was with us for 17 years before she passed. What about you? Do you have a black cat? Share your photos if you do! P.S. I have not written a book with a cat. I really must remedy that in the future!
