Birth of an Author

Today is National Teachers’ Day and I want to celebrate the many teachers that influenced my life, especially my 5th grade English teacher, Miss Kreschenko. Miss Kreschenko taught at Gardiners Avenue Elementary School in Levittown and she was responsible for the birth of this author. On one of the first days of class, she assigned a project: to write a 20 page book to be placed in a class lending library. I had always been an avid reader with stories running through my head, but it had never occurred to me to sit down and write a book until that day. I went home and started writing and my poor mom had to help me type what turned out to be a 120 page book. I didn’t know it at the time, but it was a romance, and it would trigger my lifelong passion to write. THANK YOU, Miss Kreschenko. I wouldn’t be an author if it wasn’t for you and that 5th grade class.
